To think Joe Biden needs to be replaced as a candidate

I just saw a headline saying Biden absolutely lost the plot last night and was totally incoherent. Why on earth is he bring put forward as a candidate. I know a lot of folk on here think nothing could be worse than Trump. Or does it not really matter who is President as somebody else makes the big decisions anyway and the President is just a figurehead. I find it a bit scarey that the USA can only come up with those two. Many Democrats are apparently calling for him to be replaced.

Ashley Biden has not stated that. A stolen diary was produced by a well known Republican dirty tricks organization and the words "showers with my father (probably inappropriate)" were leaked out of context. Nobody knows for sure what it means.

Why don't you explain how a parliamentary system works, since you think it's ignorant not to understand how the US system works.

It has long been believed that Trump has Alzheimers. It's been noted that he gets less coherent later in the day, which is one of the symptoms. There's also suspicion he takes stimulants before important appearances. He repeatedly fell asleep during his court case, so he is not a naturally energetic person.

Hunter Biden had his Dad’s phone number stored in his phone under Pedo Peter. Peter (can’t remember the Surname and can’t be arsed looking it up) is Biden’s security alias.

This the same same laptop which was claimed to have porn pics of Biden in it, which were proven to have been photoshopped. It was a hoax perpetrated by Trumper creeps on 4Chan.
So you can see how little crediblity that accusation has.
Robert L. Peters was alleged to be a Biden alias, among others. Another one of them was Robin Ware. So you can see how little significance that actually has.
The Republicans have certainly been working overtime with the dirty tricks.

Nobody in 2024 is still claiming the Hunter Biden laptop pictures are fake. Are you AI? You seem a little out of date.

As I said, it was the ones claimed to be from the laptop which were porn photos of Joe Biden. Those were faked. The ones of Hunter, otoh, are allegedly real.

So the fact that someone faked porn photos of Joe Biden (which I didn’t know existed) to discredit the real porn/drugs/gun photos of Hunter Biden (which I’ve seen) when I never even mentioned porn, means I need to read more carefully. Ok dude.

This is the dems big problem...they have been using this line too often and can't hide the truth of a live debate.

CA is the 5th largest economy in the world, larger than the UK. Agreed it has problems but (a) some are either many decades old and very complex, such as the water rights kerfuffle, or functions of nature, such as its vulnerability to forest fires (worse with climate change) and earthquakes and (b) CA has been enduring boom and bust for about a century now. It doesn’t really correlate with a particular style of leadership.

Overall growth is impressive. The state has gained two spots in the world economy this century. Also on the whole CA has done an admirable job with immigrants, regular and irregular - welcoming them, getting the best from them, incorporating their cultures, etc. The contrast with TX in particular is profound and welcome.

I still agree with @mathanxiety ’s point that a single state ticket is probably a mistake. But Gavin Newsom? A different story

@poetryandwine I really hope you’re wrong, I think he’d make an unholy mess. But judging by yesterday’s rally, it looks as if Biden is determined to run.

If Joe Biden doesn't make way for a better candidate, he'll be judged harshly by history, I think.

Another Trump administration would be disastrous for the world. He has a totally isolationist stance and will effectively give Putin the green light to overrun more former Eastern Bloc countries. Trump won't care about Europe.

Parties always get a boost when they replace a leader and in every other way it seems to make sense for the Democrats.

I've found Biden to be a damp squib in so many ways. I'm afraid I think his only virtue is that he's not Trump, but it's time to go, Joe, for the sake of your party and your country, and the writing's on the wall.

Biden only won in 2020 because the pandemic happened and Trump's response was even worse than ours. Plus even in 2016 Hilary won the popular vote.

Before March 2020 Trump looked oddsvon for a second term. He'll win now if the Dems don't put someone in who can finish a sentence.

How do you get to be a grown up and not realise that this post was questioning where there was a power circle that made decisions around the POTUS and it was OK to have a senile old man as the President because the decisions are made by people with some mental capacity.
That's what was being asked. Not that the President is a figure head with no powers. It a reasonable question as Biden wouldn't have a clue as to some of the decisions and policies that have been Implemented in his name. There must be someone who knows what's going on, hopefully.

😅😅😅😅 he's got not so early dementia which is not that big a deal or unusual for a man of his age. But men of his age with early dementia retire and play golf or other activities not try and get elected to lead the USA.
The bar is so low that people think it is fine for someone who literally can not complete a sentence coherently should be leader of the USA. You don't need to think it's a conspiracy or an agenda by right wing activists. Just watch the debate. He should be retired and enjoying his hobbies.

One of my friends said that she thought he was medicated up to the eyeballs during the debate. She doesn’t have a medical background so has no idea what with, but she thought his movements and facial expressions were glazed and wooden.

I did think he looked glazed. Trump was more animated and faked tanned to the nines, of course. 😂

The debate was horrendous. I was totally rooting for Biden and am gutted for him. Definitely needs replacing.
