AIBU to ask what this rash on the torso is? Photos

Medical science (well, our doctor) is stumped. One 5-day and one 10-day course of strong antibiotics have done nothing. Itches like the blazes!
We went to Marrakech after Christmas and the itching started there. Possibly something in the bedding? But only one of us is affected.
Please help, Doctor Mumsnet!

Have you tried anti histamine tablets to see if it's allergy related?

2welshmums · 27/06/2024 20:05

Have you got this anywhere else?
Could be scabies?

Definitely doesn't look like scabies. Looks like dermatitis.

WhosAfraidOfLittleOldMe · 27/06/2024 20:12

Where exactly is it localised to?

Apart from the antibiotics, what have you tried to use to clear it up? (Any creams etc?)

You say it started at Christmas, has it constantly been itching and red since then, or has it had flare ups? If it has had flare ups, is there any link between these?

Is the person with the rash otherwise well in themself?

My initial thought is that it is contact dermatitis, which can unfortunately be caused by all manner of things!

Menopaused · 27/06/2024 20:22

Have you tried anti fungal treatments? It sounds like you've gone every other route. If scabiesnhas been ruled out and the Dr is confident it's not eczema then worth trying? Or are you just stuck in an itch/scratch cycle and making it worse?

Swissrollover · 27/06/2024 20:27

I'd try canesten or similar on it, in case fungal.

Thanks so much for the advice - I'll follow each suggestion up!

@Frazzledandpuzzled I know this is an old post, but please can I ask how you successfully treated and got rid of the scabies?
