Can I get a smooth body with a short torso or will I need intervention

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 26/06/2024 12:54

So I’m on a weight loss journey. I’m short with a short torso and long legs. I tend to look lumpy if I’m not careful. I have to be at a certain weight to look smooth and even then I can look lumpy when I’m bloated. I’m decently slim not but want to lose a stone to look lean and smooth. I’m so jealous of those girls with longer torsos who just look amazing even when they’re bloated. At least I have decent legs so can’t complain too much. I do have bigger boobs which in my opinion are a bit too big but once I get down to ideal weight they should shrink a bit.

does any of you have advice on how to get to my goal a bit sooner e.g. waist training, certain exercises, certain diet changes? I watch my diet. I don’t eat clean but decently healthy. I would love to get liposuction done (yes I would resort to that because I don’t like looking lumpy that much) I’m hoping I’ll get a good job after maternity to start saving for it. I’m terrified of it not getting better then getting worse when menopause hits which is probably 20 years give or take for me.

I know this is vain and first world problems and people will say love yourself but I need to be a certain way to feel like myself and to feel comfortable and right now while I’m glad I’ve bounced back after pregnancy and lost weight I’m not 100% happy as I want to look long and lean so bad. A friend of mine recently had a baby a couple of months after me she’s got a long torso and she looks so much better than me. It’s not fair lol

Please be careful if you do liposuction. Yes those fat cells will be permanently removed but if you gain fat then it has to go somewhere and that’s into your remaining fat cells. Do you want fat knees eg?

Simonjt · 26/06/2024 17:56

Right as someone who is largely recovered from an eating disorder and now ‘just’ has body dysmorphia have you thought about talking to your GP regarding body image, possibly body dysmorphia?

Everyone has rolls, I’m a man, so we tend to carry less fat and more muscle, when I was a fulltime professional athlete with a six pack and 8% body fat unless I was tensing I had a rolly stomach, if I wore a tight crop under my training shirt I would have flesh ‘sticking out’ in the armpit area. People you see who don’t have this aren’t real, they’re heavily edited, or they’re in the depths of an eating disorder.

Women carry more body fat, to get to a stage where you have low enough fat to look extremely flat you would be at levels that aren’t healthy, you may also find unless you have very very good abs and brilliant posture you have a low down tummy bump where your uterus is. Professional female athletes are only in the low body fat zone for short periods as it can have a negative impact on health, increase the risk of osteoporosis, stop periods etc.

With lipo yes fat cells are removed, but your bodies ability to store fat doesn’t change, so your remaining fat cells just store more than before. Reputable clinics won’t perform it on very slim people, do you really want to put your life in the hands of someone doing something that isn’t ethical? What about scars, lipo can lead to a permanent bump effect on the treated area.

DoYouSmokePaul · 26/06/2024 17:58

Sort your head out, not your body. You sound mentally ill, and I mean that kindly.

aesoplover · 26/06/2024 18:00

You do realise liposuction is quite a high risk procedure ie many women have died due to complications from this?

Do you want to take that risk when you have a young child to take care of?

Liposuction can also make you look more lumpy because it's difficult to take the fat away evenly.

Agree with others that you need some therapy (and probably a new social circle).

Peclet · 26/06/2024 18:05

The cost of liposuction could be an amazing holiday for your family. A small second had car, a new winter coat for your child for their first 5 years. A mega birthday party for you child or a big wedding anniversary party.

Life is about experiences not looks. You have a distorted view of what will “make you happy” that is stealing joy from you everyday.

Don’t be that guy. go speak to a dr and get some specialist help.

BMW6 · 26/06/2024 18:09

OP as you get older your body changes. Muscle tone, skin elasticity, ability to lose weight and keep it off.

That red dress is too small and the shape doesn't suit your physique.

I'd suggest you take up yoga - and use much stronger sunscreen as tanning is really ageing of the skin.

Forget liposuction - it can leave you seriously lumpy, apart from being a stupid risk to take for your vanity.

How much are your coats!? (misses point)

Peclet · 26/06/2024 18:15

Yes ok- maybe the first 15 years of their lives. Ha! 😂😂

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 26/06/2024 18:23

Has any of you had liposuction done? How does it leave you lumpy except if you go to a bad surgeon? Honestly menopause scares me and what it will leave me. A lot of women kill themselves over it including celebrities who have the means for better treatment. Look at Kate Spade. She left a child behind because of menopause symptoms. Honestly if I was left in a much worse state with much worse mental health and no good treatments I’d probably end up the same way so having liposuction now would prevent a lot of that. If I die on the table which is a zero to very slim chance then it was my time. That’s how I look at it.

Therapy. Now, op. You sound so ill

whyamisotiredallthetime · 26/06/2024 18:25

On behalf of all grumpy middle aged women I do not accept your half hearted apology - because in the next breath you harp back to you you you and your minute bit of fat

TheShellBeach · 26/06/2024 18:37

OP - "I'm going to have liposuction"

Whole Thread - "Don't be silly. It's dangerous and unnecessary"

OP (puts fingers in her ears)

"LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!"

I’m sorry if that frumpy middle aged woman comment offended any of you. It wasn’t meant in that way.

for those asking about what I mean by smooth I mean zero fat rolls e.g. back fat which if losing a stone and exercising doesn’t shift I will save up for liposuction but I shouldn’t need that with losing weight hopefully but if I do then the liposuction will protect me from menopausal midsection as the fat cells are permanently removed. I know I shouldn’t obsess over it but when you feel those lumps despite knowing you’re slim and have worked hard to be does get you down. I know the grass isn’t always greener as someone with short legs and a long torso can struggle too.

I will be working again later this year for anyone wondering how I will afford liposuction if I decide to save up and get it done

Why have you set your weight loss limit at 1st before you’ll resort to lipo. If after you’d lost that 1st you still felt like you wanted a leaner silhouette you could just decide to lose another half a stone or another full one.

It’s a strange thought process.

Everything you are saying here sounds like that of a very delusional, mentally unwell person.

It's not "your time" to die if you make plans to have a non essential procedure done.

It also makes no sense to be so terrified of the menopause when you've said yourself that it's approximately 20 years away for you.

Your views on this are so skewed I question whether you are a suitable parent to your child.

Also I literally explained how it can leave you lumpy in my last post.

TheShellBeach · 26/06/2024 18:42

And OP you're not really sorry for calling people "frumpy middle aged women".

You're horrified at the thought of being menopausal. But you must be well into your thirties now.

Please stop panicking about ageing. We all age.

Your life should be about your little boy now, not obsessing about making Tik Tok videos in which you wear clothes which are (sorry) cheap and not even flattering.

WolfFoxHare · 26/06/2024 18:46

Lentilweaver · 26/06/2024 16:01

""Naturally smooth" girls
"Frumpy middle aged women"

This place gets funnier everyday.

I’ve embraced my inner ‘frump’ recently (if frumpy now means not being ‘smooth’ and ‘lean’ 😂😂) and honestly I’m about 100% happier.

WolfFoxHare · 26/06/2024 18:50

And if you ARE well into your thirties, I wouldn’t be so confident menopause is 20 years away. My mum and gran both started menopause in their late forties/early fifties and I was late thirties! You might find it’s just round the corner. I’d work on my self-esteem and try to love myself if I were you, rather than fretting so much about being ‘smooth’ and ‘lean’, it’ll serve you in better stead in the long-term.

whyamisotiredallthetime · 26/06/2024 18:55

Your latest post is quite soul destroying

I think you need help with your mental health and self obsession
I see no thought or care for your child or loved ones
Just that if you become middle aged , can pinch more than an inch - then life is not worth living ?

How very very sad

nothingcomestonothing · 26/06/2024 18:55

OP as I think I've said on all of your various horrifying threads, get mental health help.

As you're long term unemployed, you're not going to be able to fund liposuction (if you could find a practitioner unethical enough to do it on you) anyway.

Pay attention to you baby instead of tiktok videos and imaginary body flaws.

Peclet · 26/06/2024 19:21

There is now a huge huge swath of HRT and alternative therapies to support menopause. You sound like you hate you’re self and all women!!!

MsCactus · 26/06/2024 19:27

I have long legs and a shorter torso. Isn't that the ideal? No one wants a long body and short legs right... Nearly all models have a shorter torso by comparison and very long legs.

HappierTimesAhead · 26/06/2024 19:29

Women who commit suicide because of menopause symptoms are not doing it because they have put on weight FFS! And they are in the absolute minority.

BMW6 · 26/06/2024 19:35

OP this is from the American Society of plastic surgeons

Liposuction risks can include:

  1. Anesthesia risks
  2. Bruising
  3. Cannula breakage
  4. Change in skin sensation that may persist
  5. Damage to deeper structures such asnerves, blood vessels, muscles, lungs and abdominal organs
  6. Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
  7. Fluid accumulation
  8. Infection
  9. Irregular contours or asymmetries
  10. Irregular pigmentation
  11. Need for revision surgery
  12. Poor wound healing
  13. Rippling or loose skin, worsening of cellulite
  14. Swelling
  15. Thermal burn or heat injury from ultrasound with the ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty technique

Secondary procedures may sometimes be recommended to reduce excess skin. Special considerations are needed when large amounts – usually more than five liters of fat – are suctioned.

TheShellBeach · 26/06/2024 19:52

@BMW6 I have a feeling that none of those complications from liposuction will put off the OP.

It'll stop her from becoming a frump, doncha know.
