Can I get a smooth body with a short torso or will I need intervention

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 26/06/2024 12:54

So I’m on a weight loss journey. I’m short with a short torso and long legs. I tend to look lumpy if I’m not careful. I have to be at a certain weight to look smooth and even then I can look lumpy when I’m bloated. I’m decently slim not but want to lose a stone to look lean and smooth. I’m so jealous of those girls with longer torsos who just look amazing even when they’re bloated. At least I have decent legs so can’t complain too much. I do have bigger boobs which in my opinion are a bit too big but once I get down to ideal weight they should shrink a bit.

does any of you have advice on how to get to my goal a bit sooner e.g. waist training, certain exercises, certain diet changes? I watch my diet. I don’t eat clean but decently healthy. I would love to get liposuction done (yes I would resort to that because I don’t like looking lumpy that much) I’m hoping I’ll get a good job after maternity to start saving for it. I’m terrified of it not getting better then getting worse when menopause hits which is probably 20 years give or take for me.

I know this is vain and first world problems and people will say love yourself but I need to be a certain way to feel like myself and to feel comfortable and right now while I’m glad I’ve bounced back after pregnancy and lost weight I’m not 100% happy as I want to look long and lean so bad. A friend of mine recently had a baby a couple of months after me she’s got a long torso and she looks so much better than me. It’s not fair lol

Dress for your shape. Google Kibbe.
I have a short torso, am short and have cankles but there are styles that will look great on me but meh on people with tall, slim, regular figures.

greengreyblue · 26/06/2024 16:31

In the kindest possible way op you sound like a teenage girl. Stop comparing yourself to others who are miraculously thin after giving birth- they are in the minority. Change your username also and raise your aspirations!

TheShellBeach · 26/06/2024 16:32

Change your username also and raise your aspirations!

Or just go back to your previous one.

CharlotteBog · 26/06/2024 16:33

I was thinking OP wanted to have smooth genitals like Barbie.
I see not.

OP, I am tall and lean and even the slightest of bellies would show in that dress.

I am also a frumpy middle aged woman so you don't care what I think anyway.

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 26/06/2024 13:00

Exactly. I’ll never have a long torso but I can do things to make it and myself feel and look better

Wearing a dress that fits will help.

LordPercyPercy · 26/06/2024 16:34

I don't mean to be rude but your post micro-obsessing about your body is just dull. Seriously, expand what goes on in your head.

nonmerci99 · 26/06/2024 16:35

I suggest starting cardio or strength training if you want to work on changing your body composition. Find exercise you enjoy and can keep up 4+ days a week and commit to doing this for the long haul — if you do, you’ll see amazing results after 3-6 months.

I have to agree that the dress isn’t the most flattering. If you want to look thinner, I’d avoid a dress with a bulky top that makes you look even bustier and doesn’t emphasise your waist. You don’t look heavy at all btw.

fishonabicycle · 26/06/2024 16:38

Everyone looks leaner when they lose weight - not just you! Take up some weight type exercise, put yourself in a little calorie deficit and your shape will slowly improve. It takes time and consistency and you could have a long torso and short dumpy legs! We all work with what we have.

iloveshetlandponies · 26/06/2024 16:38

Oh god I was like this after my first babies in my 20s

I did grow out of it but I know how op feels and it's real

The pressure to look a certain way 😞and the constant comparing

Pickingmyselfup · 26/06/2024 16:47

Fwiw I have a long torso with short big legs, hips, a bum AND a c section overhang. I hate the way I look, everything wobbles and I have terrible cellulite.

I do everything I should, eat reasonably well but I will never be perfect, exercise including weights, do a lot of non purposeful exercise and I am at a normal weight but I will always look like this.

Someone I know wants to look more like me because she's really slim, I have the bum, but I wish I looked more like her!

Some people are just blessed with looking amazing and don't have to put the effort in and it's hard not to feel very envious. However they also have their own personal hang ups so the grass is not always greener.

Wearing a dress that fits will help.

A dress that fits and was purchased somewhere other than Temu, Shein, TikTok shop or whatever the other the other current purveyors of cheap unstructured synthetic clothes from China are.

Notellinganyone · 26/06/2024 17:00

Frumpy middle aged woman here. I think I’m much more confident and happy than you currently seem to be. Time to grow up a bit - you have a new human to explore the world with.

TeaGinandFags · 26/06/2024 17:00

The best way to get toned is go to the gym for resistance training. Don't bother with a personal trainer as the gym people will sort you out for free. It's basically their job description.

The one exercise to do is rowing. That's pretty much 86% of your body sorted. (Plus push-ups or captain's chair for the other 14%.) Alternate rowing with cardio - cross trainer for low impact - and sort your diet out.

The photos you provided look fine, so please don't stress. You're already beautiful.

Uricon2 · 26/06/2024 17:32

My mother had a saying. Well, she had many sayings, not all of them kind. One was "There will always be someone younger and prettier than you".It wasn't directed at me per se and think it may have been a rather cack handed attempt to say you shouldn't stress to much about perfection. She was also, of course, right.

OP, you've had a lot of threads, some of which have been deleted, most rather off key. I'm not sure what you want with this one, because none of us are going to be able to elongate your torso.

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 26/06/2024 17:32

I’m sorry if that frumpy middle aged woman comment offended any of you. It wasn’t meant in that way.

for those asking about what I mean by smooth I mean zero fat rolls e.g. back fat which if losing a stone and exercising doesn’t shift I will save up for liposuction but I shouldn’t need that with losing weight hopefully but if I do then the liposuction will protect me from menopausal midsection as the fat cells are permanently removed. I know I shouldn’t obsess over it but when you feel those lumps despite knowing you’re slim and have worked hard to be does get you down. I know the grass isn’t always greener as someone with short legs and a long torso can struggle too.

I will be working again later this year for anyone wondering how I will afford liposuction if I decide to save up and get it done

Spanx, get a normal dress and drop the magician assistant look.

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 26/06/2024 17:36

Thanks for the style tips too. I get that dress looked too tight and I know I suit more a line dresses etc.

i was asking just for better diet tips. Thanks for the exercise advice I will go for a mix of cardio and weight training as I like those

Have you had therapy? Seriously

It's incredibly sad reading someone hate themselves so much. You won't ever be happy or comfortable with yourself until you fix the 'lumps' on the inside

HappierTimesAhead · 26/06/2024 17:37

'The liposuction will protect me from menopausal midsection as the fat cells are permanently removed'

Where to start with this?! You do know that liposuction doesn't stop you from gaining weight/fat on your body in the future, right?

Billyballyboo · 26/06/2024 17:37

I hear you OP. I'm a similar shape. High protein, low carb will help. Lipo might leave you lumpy. Aim for 1 gram of protein per pound of your goal body weight. And stick to a weightloss calorie amount. Plus lift some serious weights.

TheShellBeach · 26/06/2024 17:37

I’m sorry if that frumpy middle aged woman comment offended any of you. It wasn’t meant in that way

It's okay, OP. I'm a frumpy old woman (aged nearly 68) so obviously, you weren't referring to me.

I hope.

🤣

HappierTimesAhead · 26/06/2024 17:39

@PlatinumBlondeBarbie Please, please take a break from social media. There is a world out there that doesn't revolve round obsessing over your image every second of the day. Go out and enjoy life, enjoy your baby. If you continue this way then your child will eventually grow up having the same hang ups as you. Do it for you and your baby.

TonTonMacoute · 26/06/2024 17:40

Have you got time (energy!) for a class OP? Pilates is good for this sort of thing, a far better option than liposuction and will help strengthen your back muscles for putting toddlers in and out of car seats.

There are some YouTubers who do core strengthening workouts too. It might not seem much but they are very effective if you stick at it.

I know, it's insane.

And OP you're focusing (as usual) on your looks.

I thought, when I read all your previous threads, that once your son was born, you'd gain some perspective, and stop being obsessed with your looks. I was expecting threads about the baby.

But so far, there have been two threads about your looks, and one about a lesbian crush.

The baby can't be more than six weeks old, yet he is never mentioned.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 26/06/2024 17:45

I’m not going to be one of those frumpy middle aged women.

You'd best buy a different dress in the right size and change your hairdresser so they don't do the standard 'I'm covering all my greys here' big bouffant bleach job, then.

Is this actually your internal narrative or is it a boyfriend's misogyny you're parroting?
