Take your fxxking dog poo home

I’ve just run 5k. Bagged up dog poo everywhere. On pavements. Grass verges. Next to half empty dog poo bins. 3 on the pavement next to Sainsbury’s alone.

Bins everywhere that could be used but weren’t.

Obviously it isn’t MN users doing this, it never is 🤦🏻‍♀️.

If you’re bagging up the poo, take the bag 100 yards to a bin and use it, you lazy fekker.

When the wind blows the poo bag will fall. Plus it stinks and upsets the natural habitat of wildlife.

I remember the 80s well. Firstly, there were nowhere near as many dogs then, and secondly ALL playing fields, bus stops and play areas are still covered in it now. Things have got proportionately worse, not improved!!

There are nearly 12 million dogs in the UK now.

Many dog owners are still lazy and disgusting and councils are still absolutely useless at enforcement.

Ever heard of scented dog poo bags?

Many councils (ours included) have taken away bins and dog poo bins because of budget cuts.

Budget cuts = feeding their consultants' pension pots, in my area.

They start putting them back again when enough people complain. That's how it works up here anyway. Getting the council to do its job is like full-time unpaid community service.

Yes, of course it is. I mean how much harm can a fully contained bag of dog poo, do to you, unless you go looking? Give over.

I'm baffled at the deductions that bagged shit (and the ensuing mental picture) lying around is on the same par as beer cans, and some leftover KFC or wine bottles, but I guess it's mental bias based on fondness a bit like the difference a parent makes between a dirty nappy and adult poo?

If it was bagged human shit left around by some random drunk or homeless person (and I have sadly seen this) would that mental imagery provoke a stronger aversion. If so, WHY? It is still shit.

I'm talking about bagged poo, that owners collect on the way back from their walk. Are you that faint hearted that you can't walk past a contained bag of dog poo without being a drama queen?

I see what you did there😂

I see your point, but even though there were less dogs, there was more poop on the ground because literally almost no one picked up and remember people sometimes left their dogs to roam the streets totally off lead and unaccompanied. Just free roaming dogs. Weird when I think back to it.

But yes things aren't good now. At least there wasn't a chance of literal raining dog shite in the 80s I guess!

They're all as bad for the environment, wildlife and pets.

Broken glass in the street or park is pretty bloody dangerous.

Again, from my experience of litter picking, yes you do see bagged human shit. You also see unbagged human shit complete with a trail of shitty tissues. Shat pants (adults, not kids), used condoms, filthy nappies and bottles/pint glasses full of human piss left behind by delivery drivers and drunks.

It's all the same in that it's horrible and shouldn't be there.

🙄thanks but we not all dickheads

ovals · 26/06/2024 18:04

Yes, absolutely nothing lower than a dog owner. Thieves, murderers, rapists all pale in comparison.

The problem is some dog owners must forget otherwise people must be leaving bagged poo around deliberately which seems illogical. There are a couple of walks we do that we have to return the way we came (a tow path and a old railway line) where I have in the past left bags out of the way and collected on my way back (if our dog poos near the beginning of the walk). I don't any longer just in case I do forget as apparently foxes will eat and can choke on bagged dog poo as well as it's not great for the environment obvs. Round here left bagged poo has dramatically gone down but left poo has gone up which I find pretty disgusting especially as it's usually on paths.

Out of interest, does anyone know if the biodegradable plant-based bags do what they are supposed to do ie harmlessly degrade? We use them. I'm not sure what happens to the bags in the poo bins.

Churchview · 26/06/2024 18:11

@Mothership4two I remember reading that the biodegradable bags do break down but that it takes absolutely ages.

Stars71 · 26/06/2024 17:24

Sorry, don't agree.picking up the left overs of a picnic, when you're going straight home, is different to bagging up poo, when you know you are going to collect it, ON YOUR WAY BACK. So long as the mess is contained and on the edge of a riverbank, eg, why is that a problem to you?

Typical dog owner: sense of sheer entitlement, not a care in the world for anyone else and the dog can do no wrong 🤦🏼😆😝 do you seriously not understand that it is a really disgusting habit that other people don't want to have to look at or smell? Or are you one of those dog owners who also insists your house doesn't stink to high heaven? Ps it does.

ovals · 26/06/2024 18:31

“You smell”. Brutal. How will we ever recover.

Bullbreedbliss · 26/06/2024 18:34

Thats pretty grim. Cant understand the mentality of bagging it and leaving it. I don’t like touching those bins either but will use my elbow or pop a poo bag on my hand. Although sometimes if there’s no bins and we are coming back that way or doing a circular, I will leave it somewhere and grab it on the way back.

Imagine the worst part of your day was walking past a bag of dog poo. Now that, is a life I would envy.

Are the dog poo biodegradable bags very much stronger than the usual biodegradable food waste bags? Genuine question.

hookiewookie29 · 26/06/2024 18:51

4 waste bins on the streets by us
Full.....so poo bags are balanced on the top! I don't get it! Take your shit home!! Put it in your own bin!!
I'm a dog owner and would never leave it on the top!

Don't be silly. No one said it was the worst part of anything.

It's just disgusting. It's amazing to see the sheer about of bending and twisting not to get the basic point that bagged dog muck lying around is dirty and disgusting. I bet your house is super tidy too. I bet, you don't leave bagged dog muck in your hallway or living room floor. But still you miss the point.

It's like someone saying they don't enjoy the sight of bagged shit is the same as saying they don't like your dog. I think this is what is being assumed because the argument in favour of leaving it around is nonsense.

BotterMon · 26/06/2024 18:55

If there are no bins I take it home and bin it in the wheelies. Some dog owners are vile.

It's even worse hanging the bags or leaving them on the side as the bags don't biodegrade which actual poo does.

The bags are very strong then

It’s no different to leaving it outside in the garden by the gate because I can’t be bothered to unlock it and walk to the bins. Nobody wants to walk for miles with a bag of shit especially when you have multiple dogs on lead.

Well you should. It’s part of a dog owners duty.

Oh look, another one who claims they collect it on their "way back."

And yet here we are, living in a country absolutely full of dog sh* bags that people actually don't *come back for 🙄...

Fully agree.

I’m not. Not all dog people. I religiously pick up my dog poo and bin it.
