Take your fxxking dog poo home

I’ve just run 5k. Bagged up dog poo everywhere. On pavements. Grass verges. Next to half empty dog poo bins. 3 on the pavement next to Sainsbury’s alone.

Bins everywhere that could be used but weren’t.

Obviously it isn’t MN users doing this, it never is 🤦🏻‍♀️.

If you’re bagging up the poo, take the bag 100 yards to a bin and use it, you lazy fekker.

@MereDintofPandiculation

Yes some people are 'awful' both dog and non-dog owners. but the non-dog owners don’t usually leave bags of crap behind

Neither do the majority of dog owners.

The problem is, what would happen to anyone if one of these dog people who let their animal foul the pavement, was confronted?

You can imagine..everyone says the same phrase on here .. "a mouthful of abuse".

It's crazy.. our society has got to the stage where people are able to act selfishly because we (rightly, at times) fear the response when they are challenged on their selfishness.

For this you can also read

  1. Use of speakerphone on trains and in public places
  2. iPad and mobile device content played loudly in restaurants or public
  3. Parking in areas which cause danger to other users
  4. Parking across driveways etc

My DD was only pointing out the other day we used to have the Public Service Announcements on the TV, the ones with "call the coastguard" etc

Perhaps we need to have some of these back to challenge behaviour. The rail network could do one on not putting your shoes on the seat, and not giving your laptop/handbag/bouquet of flowers a seat and then being really arsey about giving said seat up

Some road ones would also be helpful as there is confusion over lanes at islands and middle lane hoggers on motorways

And of course ones about bagging dog poo and putting in the bin or taking home

Don't know who pays for them though

I often ask myself this about dog ownership:

Which part of keeping an animal on a piece of string do you like best ?

Is it the bit where they shit in your house ?

Is it the bit where they eat another animal’s shit, vomit it up, then eat it again ?

Is it the bit where they ejaculate on your sofa ?

Is it the bit when they get ill and you spend your entire holiday budget on having a used condom they’ve eaten pulled out of their stomach ?

Is it the bit where they terrorise someone’s toddler and you’re so ashamed you can only mumble excuses about “being friendly” ?

Or is it the bit where you get to wrap your hand around a still-warm freshly-curled turd and tie it up in a bag ?

So many questions…

Tara336 · 26/06/2024 15:35

Dog owner here, I have noticed that lately there seems to be a lot more people not clearing up after their dogs, it drives me mad! Mine seems to prefer hoing in our garden before his walk (no idea why) but I still take bags with me just in case, I would bloody love to catch one of the dirty owners who keep letting their dogs crap outside our house

If you're a good dog owner 99% of the time your dog isn't on a lead. She has access to your garden and safe open space. In the home she potters around quietly of her own free will.

Is it the bit where they shit in your house ?
Well you see, you train your dog to poo in the garden not the house.

Is it the bit where they eat another animal’s shit, vomit it up, then eat it again ?
I had my dog for 11 years and she didn't do this. When she was unwell she vomited and seemed as horrified as I was that she was a) poorly and b) had made a mess.

Is it the bit where they ejaculate on your sofa ?
She. That's my full answer regarding my dog.
Although, we had male dogs at my parents and I never saw this happen.

Is it the bit when they get ill and you spend your entire holiday budget on having a used condom they’ve eaten pulled out of their stomach ?
Never did that.

Is it the bit where they terrorise someone’s toddler and you’re so ashamed you can only mumble excuses about “being friendly” ?
No, we trained her when she came to us (she was a rescue dog and had been raised with children). She gave kids a wide berth and was well trained so kept herself quietly to herself.

Or is it the bit where you get to wrap your hand around a still-warm freshly-curled turd and tie it up in a bag ?
Picking up poo is a small price to pay for the companionship of a dog.
You do it because it's t he right thing to do, not for the joy of it - like changing nappies.
Must add....I didn't ever mind picking up my dog's warm poo.

It's other people's cold dog poo I don't like picking up.

Jeepers....the non dog people on here are rabid.

If they are my only options, it'll have to be the last one - don't knock it! There is something strangely comforting about a warm (bagged!) poo on a cold and frosty moonlit morning Grin

They are dirty lazy fuckers

there are a few on here that will leave the bagged poo aside apparently hidden so it doesn’t spoil their walk and collect it on the way home 🙄😡 as if that’s ok

honestly I think the fines should be extremely high

What's wrong with collecting it on the way back from the walk? Maybe if there were more bins, on the route, it would be easier. As for runners, I have found them to be the most entitled, when they tut at you for having to reset their stopwatch when a dog has dared to sniff at them.

What happened to the dog poo before it became socially unacceptable to leave it? It was in my lifetime however i dont remember there being piles of shite everywhere. Maybe they were fewer dogs or they didnt get walked as much, I really cant remember.

OneTC · 26/06/2024 16:48

In our park they have fenced off the natural ponds because people were letting their dogs go in and it's a bird nesting area for waterfowl.

Now they hang their shit bags on the fence.

There's some shocking people about honestly

I often go for a picnic, I do not leave empty packaging about to collect on the way back home I take it with me

Its quite simple I am thoughtful towards the environment and others the parks/commons etc are for us all to enjoy

It was all over the streets. Dog fouling was everywhere, even children's playground areas, which was dangerous and that's what prompted the drive to get owners to clean up after their dogs. I can't believe I'm the only person who remembers the 80s at least.

Things are much improved believe it or not. Hanging poo bags on trees is at least off the off the ground...

Thisismetooaswell · 26/06/2024 16:59

I don't think anyone would disagree with you. Very, very occasionally if we are on a walk where we know there won't be a bin and we know for sure we are coming back the exact same way, and it's unlikely many people will be around, we will leave a bagged poo by a wall, stile or whatever and collect it on the way back. We have never, ever not picked it back up. We probably do this 2 0r 3 times a year and usually on holiday when we are somewhere remote. Personally I don't have a problem with that. But a man on twitter blocked me over it ha ha

Except you're not comparing like for like, are you? Of course you take your picnic remnants with you. Regular dog walkers, on a regular route, know they can leave their (contained) out of the way poo bags to carry on the way back.

They do it because they do not give a fuck and they are selfish

its lazy, its dirty others do not want to see bags of dog shit hanging about or apparently hidden away under a bush or wherever its left - the point is that it is left there and it shouldn't be

your dog, your responsibility carry the bag around like other responsible and unselfish owners manage to

CasperGutman · 26/06/2024 17:13

There's a bin on the way to my children's primary school that always has dog poo bags on the ground next to it, even when the bin has plenty of room in it. This annoyed me for a very long time. Why couldn't people put the flipping bags in the bin, FFS?

Then one day I happened to walk past at just the right time to see a gull perched on the side of the bin, taking the bags out and dropping them on the ground. I reported it to the council and suggested they should consider using a different kind of bin, but nothing has changed. I don't think they realise how much of an issue it is. Frankly, I wouldn't have believed it myself if I hadn't seen it!

CasperGutman · 26/06/2024 17:21

At the risk of stirring the pot a bit: does anyone think there's a bit of a similarity between the posts here saying "but most dog owners don't leave bags of poo behind" and posters on other threads who are vilified for statements along the lines of "but not all men..."?

Yes, it's true that many dog owners don't leave bags behind. But 99.99% of the bags that are left behind are left by dog owners!

You're right, it's not like for like.

Leaving fermenting bagged dog shit around either out on display or 'carefully' concealed for some poor unaware person to 'discover' is considerably far more grim than some picnic leftovers and some packaging left on the ground.

Sorry, don't agree.picking up the left overs of a picnic, when you're going straight home, is different to bagging up poo, when you know you are going to collect it, ON YOUR WAY BACK. So long as the mess is contained and on the edge of a riverbank, eg, why is that a problem to you?

Yes, of course it is. I mean how much harm can a fully contained bag of dog poo, do to you, unless you go looking? Give over.

Speaking as someone who does regular litter picking both on my own and with a group of people in my town all litter is just the same.....food waste, dog waste, half empty cans, NOS gas canisters, bits of old vape, fag ends, plastic bottles, disposable BBQs and kebab sticks......all horrible to look at, horrible for the environment, horrible to have to be the poor sod who bends down to pick them up and then takes them home to sort into waste and recycling.

For 11 years I litter picked on twice daily dog walks.
My litter picking group is made up mostly of dog walkers.

Everyone should just pick up their crap.
Dog owners are no worse than the people who eat a McDonalds in their car, drink a can of Monster, smoke a fag and then drop the lot out of the window.

When the wind blows the poo bag will fall. Plus it stinks and upsets the natural habitat of wildlife.

I remember the 80s well. Firstly, there were nowhere near as many dogs then, and secondly ALL playing fields, bus stops and play areas are still covered in it now. Things have got proportionately worse, not improved!!

There are nearly 12 million dogs in the UK now.

Many dog owners are still lazy and disgusting and councils are still absolutely useless at enforcement.

I will never understand dog owners.
They never think their dog stinks news flash they do and your home stinks of dog too.
And picking up shit yuk bag on hand pick up fresh warm stinking dog shit.
I know it has to be picked up but I couldn't so never had a dog.
But owners that do have dogs but leave shit behind should pick it up.

Personally, I find snobs the worst of the worst.

Churchview · 26/06/2024 17:37

Many councils (ours included) have taken away bins and dog poo bins because of budget cuts.
