Beer ends on a massive burn: "Thank you Mr Dunks, you've been very helpful indeed."

That man knowingly imperilled justice.

eeyoredebbie · 16/07/2024 15:23

Coffee anyone?

Yeah. I try not to be too hang 'em and flog 'em but he was willing to provide witness statements where he was clueless about their contents to enable Post Office to get subpostmasters sent to prison because this would be to his employer's benefit.

And then, despite bit all having become out, he's sitting there acting all indignant.

DanielGault · 16/07/2024 15:31

That email 😮

nauticant · 16/07/2024 15:31

Oh. That email exchange between Dunks and a senior Fujitsu man.

Oh. That email exchange between Dunks and a senior Fujitsu man.

It really sums up the attitudes that were prevailing at the time.

minou123 · 16/07/2024 15:38

I was stuck on a call, so I'm over an hour behind.

Will try to catch up

eeyoredebbie · 16/07/2024 15:39

The other fella behind that email was in an earlier phase not a good impression of him either!

DanielGault · 16/07/2024 15:43

Painful 😬

nauticant · 16/07/2024 15:45

He's just so out of his depth and has been all day. It would be like me suddenly finding myself on Match of the Day and being expected to provide football commentary.

It's the doubling down that makes it so awkward though isn't it. She's taking him to pieces like!

nauticant · 16/07/2024 15:48

He just can't come clean because that would really incriminate himself.

What will be the consequences from this? If any?

nauticant · 16/07/2024 15:53

He's at risk of being charged over providing perjured witness statements in the prosecutions of subpostmasters.

As o understand it from Nick Wallis blog, Andy Dunks is still employed at Fujitsu.

He clearly has been moved roles as he is called "Former IT Security Analyst", but Nick Wallis is very cross that Fujitsu still employs him.

minou123 · 16/07/2024 16:35

I'm.up to the Core Participant lawyer questions.

Ms Page is such a brilliant questioner.. its her stare at the end of her question that gets to me.

minou123 · 16/07/2024 16:53

Phew, what a day.

I will stand by my view from this morning: Andy Dunks is in a real pickle.

Is he going to be a sacrificial lamb do you think?

HellonHeels · 16/07/2024 17:01

I'm really appreciating these updates and commentary.

Has anyone got an idea of how many of them might be in line for being prosecuted? I've totally lost track.

I reckon, yes.
Along with Gareth Jenkins.

No way will the bosses at Fitjitsu put their hands up and take criminal responsibility for this.

They will be more than happy for Andy and Gareth to be the sacrificial lambs.

Only two people have been interviewed by the police in the past few years … reading between the lines it’s Gareth Jenkins and Anne Chambers. But as for anything further I think most are waiting for the end of the inquiry/the report and Sir Alan Bates has mentioned private prosecutions.

you might get some clues however from which witnesses get the self incrimination warning from Sir Wynn … don’t know if anyone has kept a list?

Tablefor4 · 16/07/2024 17:40

Not made a list, but Angela van den Bogerd got one because that was the first one I heard. Paula Vennells must have done. Think Jarnail Singh the PO criminal lawyer did too.

HawthornLantern · 16/07/2024 17:57

I’m a late arrival to this thread and thank so many of you - nauticant and prh47bridge especially the insightful commentary and analysis down these threads.

But I can add that Alice Perkins was treated to a warning by Sir Wyn. I can only hope it leads to something horribly uncomfortable for her.
