it's a luxury, voting on the self ID as THE priority. People are unable to house and feed themselves and it disproportionately affects women. it's bullshit that feminists should prioritise self ID as the reason to vote. loads voting reform because of it, which will be shit for women. at this point I believe a lot of the GC feminists are a) too rich to care about other issues and/or b) racist/Islamophobic.

I think this misses the very significant point that the women most impacted by self id are among the most vulnerable in society. Women prisoners, rape victims, domestic abuse victims, the sick and disabled, orthodox religious.

I find that many people who don't see self id as an issue don't have much experience with these groups or invested the time to understand what it means for them. That seems pretty privileged to me.

b) racist/Islamophobic.

This is an outrageous statement, where on earth are you getting that from. It's also interesting that you haven't considered the impact of self ID on strict muslim women who require single sex spaces for much of their leisure activities.

Caring about women’s rights equals racism and Islamophobia now. I love this place 😂😂😂

TheKeatingFive · 23/06/2024 11:00

Where are all these GC women who say they are voting Reform? I have seen nothing like this.

Mycatsmudge · 23/06/2024 11:04

I work in the NHS and there is a lot of trans activists and many are in leadership roles. What’s scary is some aspects of healthcare are only applicable for either biological males or females. If the NHS blurs the lines for this in the name of inclusivity then I fear for the health outcomes for both sexes.

I follow many GC women on X, having been involved for 15 years or so. lots commenting that they will be voting Reform, or Conservative

Well I've seen many saying they'll vote Labour anyway, including very high profile ones. I've also seen many say they'll vote for independents. I've also seen them say they'll spoil their ballot or stay at home. Many approaches, none of which involve Reform.

give over. if you are involved in the GC movement then you will know exactly what I am talking about. but even if you aren't familiar, voting Conservative/Reform because of this issue...then yes, either too rich to know/care about issues that women are facing, or don't care about the racism you are voting for

So can you share the names of some of these GC women voting Reform? I'm very interested in who they might be?

oh I definitely have considered that impact

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/06/2024 11:13

Why do you follow women on Twitter who you dislike so much?

By your logic anyone voting Labour, Greens, LibDems doesn't care about the misogyny they are voting for.

And what ... those women can just suck it up? Be collateral damage?

I didn't say I didn't like them. but I don't only follow people that I like. I don't know anyone who does that. I follow people I can't stand. i don't use X to socialise, I use it for news and current affairs etc

if Reform gets voted in, having sex segregated places will be the least of their worries

ilovesooty · 23/06/2024 11:17

There have been several posters on Mumsnet over the past few days saying that they're GC and intend to vote Reform.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/06/2024 11:18

"Several posters on Mumsnet"

"Loads of GC women"

Confused

Stop avoiding the question. If self id becomes de rigour, these women have a lot to lose.

But you just don't care about that, right? They're collateral damage.

And somehow everyone else is Islamophobic 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

God help us all - the lack of logic is staggering

EasternStandard · 23/06/2024 11:19

Women get to vote as they want obviously and some posters voting in one way doesn’t represent any one else

I haven’t seen much from GC posters and mention of Reform

I am sure you know how to use the search function in Twitter. this is the first post that came up for e. do you need me to go through and link to every single post, or can you take it from here?

I just don't see that they are representative of GC women 🤷‍♀️ it's an unfounded anecdotal claim.
