Taylor Swift Tickets - best way to get to Wembley

whatwhatwhot · 22/06/2024 10:41

I have just bought two Taylor Swift tickets. A bit of an impulse from stub hub. I need to drive as I have a work trip tomorrow morning 😂 so need to drive.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to drive /park - where etc?

Thanks!!

I drove last night. I prebooked Wembley Park parking. Alternatively lots of locals seem to advertise their front drives at £20 if you then don't mind a 10-15 min walk to the venue. There are a lot of road restrictions in place as part of the management of the event to you need to factor that in and Waze let me down a bit on that. Leave LOTS of time. I thought I had but the traffic around the venue is insane although may have been worse as North Circ on a Friday afternoon may always be bad. On the way out it took 20 mins to get out of the immediate Wembley area but not too bad in comparison to the queue for the tube. The stewarding in/around the car parks was very good.

@kittybloom thank you! I will look at parking at Wembley. How was it? I have got tickets in section 126. The best seat I could get without remortgaging 😂

I was nr section 126. You'll have a great time! It is exactly how people say, Taylor at the top of her game, an epic performance with amazing friendly atmosphere. You can't go overdressed!

I think either take a punt that you are happy to park in someone's drive on the Harrow Road (and at least that way you be straight out so less queueing) or look to park somewhere where you could get the tube or train to take you back to your car (but then you'd have the public transport queues at the end, perhaps pre-book an uber to take you back to your car??) or maybe look at JustPark which I think does prebookable but is expensive and would probably be a longish walk.

Personally I wouldn't try to park anywhere near Wembley - park somewhere else on the jubilee line. Eg I live in West Hampstead, there are no resident only parking restrictions on the streets on Saturdays. Park in one of the streets off Mill Lane for example, then ten min walk to the tube, then v short tube trip. But keep in mind it will take you ages after the concert to get back in the tube as half the people there will be doing the same thing. But TFL and the police have it all well organised and peaceful, it just takes a while

whatwhatwhot · 22/06/2024 15:22

Thanks' I have managed to get a spot on a drive way 20 mins walk away.

There are lots of rent my drive websites but nit fear you may have left it a little late and the will be expensive for near Wembley.
You may be better doing rent my drive for another part of london and get the tube.

MillicentMargaretAmanda · 22/06/2024 15:32

If you're thinking of using the Chiltern Line, don't..they aren't stopping at Wembley today or tomorrow.

WhereAreWeNow · 22/06/2024 15:35

Be warned, the traffic around Wembley is gridlocked when everyone comes out of the Taylor Swift concert. Totally stationary.

incessantpunditry · 22/06/2024 16:01

Drive to Stanmore and get the tube from there.

That's what dc and friends did yesterday.

whatwhatwhot · 22/06/2024 16:08

I will Risk it with the parking booking inWembley. Sat nav has us arriving just after 5. Plenty of time if there is traffic. Not bothered about the warm up acts

Took about an hour to move 0.6 mile 😂 but we got parked and are at the stadium 👍

Morning! @whatnotwhat how did this all go? We managed to get tickets for tonight and will plan to drive down later. Aiming to get to the Wembley area around 4pm will this give enough time? And do drive way parking like you did.

Any other tips? I think we will have to leave a little before the end as its such a journey back we can't be stuck in traffic!

kittybloom · 23/06/2024 11:49

From reading OP’s post at the end - it sounds like a similar experience to me. The traffic around the venue is not to be underestimated. I’d leave at least an extra hour than you’ve estimated for arrival. I thought I’d be arriving around 5 but it was 6.15 before parked.

I didn’t mind the time to get out at the end as preferred that to queuing for public transport.

there is a great atmosphere. Have a fab time!

We had planned to arrive at 5;15 and got parked up by 6pm so plenty of time. Wasn't bothered about the support act. We opted for a drive way near the a40 and just on the edge of the town - this worked really well for when we left at tbr end of the night. The 1 hr we spent driving 0.8 mile in total was a pain but it was fine really. Got home in half the time at midnight.

We also left before the last song to avoid the crowds. We were in row 3 at the lower section - we would have gotten royally stuck.

Concert was amazong

I live in Stanmore, which is immediately off the M1. People park here all the time, either on the street or on hired out driveways. And then 4 stops to Wembley Park. You’ll be able to do that for other stations too but the benefit of Stanmore is that there are no event day restrictions and as it’s the very edge of London, you’re off and on the M1 quickly.

Oh wait, you posted yday! Sorry, completely missed you weren’t asking for tonight!

No problem- we went and it was fabulous!

fourmonthstogo · 24/06/2024 19:54

@kittybloom Where were you parked? In the official Wembley car parks? I'm going in August and have the fear that I'll be stuck trying to get out of the car park for hours. I'm considering paying to park on someone's driveway 20 or so minutes away to get out a bit easier.

kittybloom · 24/06/2024 21:03

I was in Blue because one member of the party has a blue badge. It was official parking. I found arriving there quite stressful as traffic at standstill and Waze didn't work properly as there were road closures in place. However the stewarding was good. I found that arriving worse than leaving.

At the end, we left slowly from the stadium so didn't hurry to the car. I would estimate it only took us around 20 minutes in the car to exit the immediate area back on to north circ. So that bit wasn't that bad although perhaps that was better from the Blue zone than other official parking spots.

However, if I went again and without the member who needed a blue badge, I'd probably head to the driveways in the Harrow Road area. Longer walk but quicker in/out. You'd have to factor in the slight worry of would there be a spot available and on a driveway you trust....

spiderplant56 · 24/06/2024 22:09

Went on Saturday and parked in the pink carpark.
Was a breeze, we arrived for 4.30 and managed to get on level 2 as they were allowing people to park in the EV spaces.... which there was plenty of!

After the last song we hung back and waited for the crowd to clear. We stayed until ushers told us to go. Popped to the loo, walked the 10 minutes to the car park.

We then sat in the car for about 45 minutes. But once we were moving we out and it was so easy to get out to the main roads as stewards are controlling the traffic flow.

I recommend pack some snacks for the car for your return trip. You'll have time to eat it!
