To ask if there is any product that stops foundation getting into skin creases and looking shit as you age?!

ive noticed my foundation won’t go on like it used to. It all gets into the creases of my skin. Is there something out there that stops this happening? My face ends up looking caked!

A good primer, such a Illamasqua Beyond Veil and Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. Trinny London also does a Miracle blur primer, similar to the Clarins one.

I’ve moved away from foundation as I’ve aged and now just use a tinted moisturiser.

brealsp · 22/06/2024 07:56

@Linearforeignbody which one please?

@VillageLifeIsTricky thank you

Botox 🤣 and a good primer!

merrymelodies · 22/06/2024 08:01

I wear Smash Box primer under my foundation - it's perfect.

Sunnysideup34 · 22/06/2024 08:04

Moved to. Bb cream, the L’Oréal Paris magic one is cheap and goes on beautifully. I don’t use a primer with it, just a hefty slathering of factor 50 suncream

Littlefish · 22/06/2024 08:06

I use Trinny London make-up. It's designed for older skin. I use the BFF cream first and then the tinted serum. It covers beautifully and leaves my skin looking really glowy.

stalecrayon · 22/06/2024 08:06

I don’t wear foundation now. I use a tinted spf which looks better. I use the garnier glow one.

stayathomer · 22/06/2024 08:07

A good primer will fix that and honestly does what it says on the tin- I use Aimee Connolly primer if you can get one that suits your skin- I use protect but a lot of the other ones are for people who wear very warm/ tan over. When I don’t wear it my foundation is awful!!!

Ok don’t laugh because I expect a lot of people on here are spending a fortune on their products but I use Aldi Lacura.
My colouring suits an equal blend of the fair and medium. It’s not always available so I stock up when I can.

Gatecrashermum · 22/06/2024 08:24

The aldi stuff is good!

I gave up foundation years ago. Didn't even wear it on my wedding day.

I wear either Bobbi Brown skin tint or No 7 Shield and Defend City light tinted moisturiser

I've got an old aldi smash box primer dupe which is amazing if I want / need some extra glow, or Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood flawless filter.

The bare minerals tinted moisturiser is AMAZING as well. With all of these worth getting skin tone matched.

You can add a bit of translucent powder on top if you're worried about staying power. Bobbi brown illuminating powder is sheer and doesn't settle into wrinkles

Me too. Honestly day to day I use Nivea tinted moisturiser and it’s brilliant. I sometimes use a bit of Superfacialist primer on top which adds a lovely sheen. I’ve also got a Trinny London one which is nice but not THAT much nicer.

No creases here and I do have a few wrinkles.

MinnieCauldwell · 22/06/2024 08:34

I switched to tinted moisturisers, cheapnone is the Boots no7, then Clarins and for best I have Chanel Les Beiges or Sisley which is lovely but spendy.
No hard i try foundation no longer sits right. Same for eye shadow

MyPinkOtter · 22/06/2024 08:38

Tinted moisturiser and a setting spray (I use Estée Lauder Set and Refresh) instead of powder. If you need to use powder use a very fine one like Mac Studio Fix and use it VERY sparingly. I only use a dab on my nose to take away the worst of the shine. Powder really sets off any creases around my eyes so I have to keep it well away.

It took a while for me to get my head around after years of trying to reduce the shiny-face look in my youth, but as we get older we need to look a little shiny I think!

I use a Nars tinted moisturiser which I love, but I might check out this Aldi one!

Awrite · 22/06/2024 08:41

Nars tinted moisturiser here. Thinking of checking out the Aldi one as the Nars one is £38.

TheDogsMother · 22/06/2024 09:00

I mix my Estée Lauder Double wear with Clarins SOS Primer (the colourless one).

IncognitoUsername · 22/06/2024 09:08

Hawaiian Tropic do a BB cream and mineral face powder that are great for the summer.

ghostyslovesheets · 22/06/2024 09:29

54 - I also use tinted moisturiser and setting spray now - works much better - also avoid concealer as they all tend to make things more obvious

CrimsonStar · 22/06/2024 11:12

For more budget friendly option I can recommend Rimmel primer. I myself already used second bottle of it and it does the job.
Also try to apply foundation with slightly damp beauty blender (egg).
Important to prep the skin before anything: serum or a light moisturizer but let it absorb before applying foundation.
Another option is to switch foundation. I use very moisturizing one and never have any creases even when my skin is a bit dry. It’s a Korean one and it’s very cheap! Much cheaper than European brands (£5-6). Called Enough Collagen. The bottle lasts for 2-3 years. It’s 100ml. I promise it will be one of the best foundations you’ve tried! But it leaves quite wet finish and if you don’t like shine on your face (similar to glass skin) you will need to powder it. Any powder will do.

FlaminHeckAilsa · 23/06/2024 07:31

@CrimsonStar where do you get Enough Collagen? I can only see it available on eBay but want to be able to see the shades. Thanks

CrimsonStar · 23/06/2024 16:02

@FlaminHeckAilsa I bought mine on IHerb. But try to look in k-beauty stores. I live in rural West Wales so I had to order online.
I think there are only 2 shades, sorry, forgot to mention that. Light one (warm undertone) and darker one. And there is Enough Collagen Whitening for very fair skin.

Laura Geller baked foundation, love it,
