Panic attack about metronidazole

I'm terrified.
I have horrendous health anxiety and emetophobia.

I've been prescribed metronidazole for BV picked up by a swab (asymptomatic). I've read a few threads on here and the side effects sound unbearable. I am absolutely petrified to end up vomiting, having diarrhoea or even hallucinations/worsened panic attacks and paranoia as I'm reading!!!

Any reassuring experiences?
I've just spent the whole morning in tears so far.

I've never had any issues with it and it's not a black box warning one. Still if you have issues, I would try Balance Activ gel. It works better than ab's in my experience, as the whole issue with BV is a lack of good bacteria.

I’ve had it a few times for dental and the only side affect was a bit of a grouchy tummy and also being hungry! You absolutely cannot touch a drop of alcohol on it though, it’ll make you really poorly. Don’t worry.

Thank you for replying! I have to take 400mg 3 times a day.. fun!
Did you take your dose with food?
I am planning on taking with food as have read that may help ease potential tummy issues but taking a tablet 3 times a day every 8 hours is going to be difficult when trying to time with meal times so thinking of maybe having a snack with every tablet… better then nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes take them with food even if it’s just a snack. They don’t taste very nice so get a big gulp of drink!
