People who don’t like day trips, weddings, going out with work, watching the football, answering the door?

im introverted and quite shy but I like all of the above and am delighted if a friend rings to organise something or says yes to coming round.

I do like your posts, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Grin

Also, how can anybody here know enough to make an assessment of whether other people have fun in their lives or not? It smacks of arrogance to take a position of self-appointed arbiter of who and who isn't 'living their best life' Envy <- not envy

Leave people be.

WhatNoRaisins · 22/06/2024 17:06

I stand by what I say, some people seem to have really depressing lives. Doesn't make them bad people.

WalkingonWheels · 22/06/2024 17:13

SheIsBack · 22/06/2024 05:18

It's mind-numbingly boring and its fans are usually uneducated, drunken cretins. Weddings are very similar.

What kind of weddings have you been to?! And what a way to describe your family and friends.

Btw ‘cretin’ is an unpleasant word derived from cretinism, a disorder with mental and physical disabilities due to thyroid issues. I would never use it. Maybe this makes me a fun sponge 🤷🏼‍♀️

None of my friends or family like football. They are of the same opinion as I am. Same with weddings - any weddings family or friends have had, have been small and intimate. Most of us don't drink.

Sounds like it. As a disabled person with thyroid issues, I think it's a fabulous word and its informal use just means, "A stupid person".

bittertwisted · 22/06/2024 20:05

@WalkingonWheels all of my friends and family love football. Taking my boys to watch Liverpool play is one of my greatest pleasures

I have a first in Law, certainly not a 'cretin'.

If your life is depressing then you can change it. And no, you're not a bad person. I hope things pick up for you soon... Flowers

I like weddings very much if they don’t starve me while they have 4 million photos taken after the ceremony.

We all like different things of course. But perhaps predictably so, online communities do seem to attract introverts, people who don’t like going out, and the ‘I prefer dogs to people’ types. Very different to people I meet in real life.

And lo, the introvert bashing begins.

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 23/06/2024 16:20

Misthios · 21/06/2024 08:23

I wouldn't say funsuckers - as others have said, ideas about what is fun are very individual.

There does however seem to be a large number of self-diagnosed "introverts" who don't like seeing people, don't open the door, resent social interactions with colleagues/family, struggle on the school run, have no friends, don't like the light nights as they prefer snuggling on the sofa etc etc etc.

The things you mention bother some introverts. Some. Why the sneering and overgeneralisation?

I'm going to assume you're an extrovert. Not all extroverts like/dislike the same things. It's the same for introverts. HTH.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 23/06/2024 16:24

I can't stand football, never have, never will. Doesn't make me a funsucker.

Don't answer the door unless I am expecting someone. Reason? Decades of experience that it is someone trying to sell me something or sign me up to something that I am not interested in. Last time I opened the door I was really ill (explains my actions) to this woman who was trying to sell me something. I only had the door open a sliver and said I was ill and not interested but she tried to push her hand in the door to shake mine. I told her where to go and shut the door in her face. She kept talking to the closed door as if that would change my mind 🙄

Good job I know how to find a bit of fun and joy in my life.

Your dull formulaic wedding / pedestrian birthday celebration is actively unpleasant to me. It’ll still go ahead without me so you do you.

Your comment tells me a lot about your personality - and goes a long way to validating OP's original comment.

Thank goodness I know no-one like you in real life!

I've heard tell that some people don't like calligraphy, the M6, watching re runs of master chef, lawn bowls, topiary, the works of Geoffrey Chaucer, or eating pork pies.
The fun sucking joyless miserable bastards.

😆

Do you think we should shout and rant at them, and say 'huh! Comes to something when people don't like calligraphy, masterchef, the M6, and lawn bowls. It's so DEPRESSING that people don't like this! I like it and I think everyone else should! And they are so miserable and so WRONG because they don't think like me!!!' 😂

Yeah, exactly this! And if it's not somebody trying to sell you something or scam you or push religion on you, it's some fucking courier trying to get you to take a package in - because some neighbour didn't have the foresight and intelligence to sort out their delivery.

NO! I'm not taking any packages in. I've got to wait for them to come and get it, or go and take it over to them, and either scenario means I will be kept half an hour talking by them. Sort your own deliveries out!

And no, I don't expect anyone to take mine in either.

LazyGewl · 24/06/2024 08:49

Yes, and you may be one of them, given that you are being so judgemental. How do you know that people don't have fun just because they don't open a door? They might have enough to interest them than to spend time on the doorstep talking to the Jehovah Witnesses.

Well of course you won’t meet people like me. We’re somewhere else, ecstatically running up hills in splendid isolation. We’re grinning from ear to ear bashing out songs on guitars and pianos in beautiful solitude. We’re lost in a world of fascinating little projects and the joy of tinkering. We are thriving, enthralled by our books and the creative universes we build around ourselves.

The dark side is pretty damn fun 🤩

I love this - it sound like heaven to me and yes, a lot of FUN.

I certainly build creative universes around myself to enjoy and none of them involve football matches or weddings (btw who goes to that many weddings anyway?- I've had a handful over the last two decades). It's very much fun. Just because it looks different to the idea of fun the OP has, doesnt make it any less fun for me.

Just leave people be for goodness sake, not everyone is going to enjoy the exact same things as you and that doesnt mean you should call them names like "fun sponge"- thats really childish, incredibly small minded, and mean spirited and actually doesnt make you out to be a very "fun" person either if I'm being brutally honest. People who truly are having fun and enjoying their lives dont feel the need to tear others down or call them names.
