Boss called me an annoying snitch for complaining about my lazy co worker?

Her laziness is affecting my job.

We both clean in a restaraunt. It’s just me and her, no supervisors.
She is extremely lazy, doesn’t do her work, leaves dirt and mess in her area, leaves most of the work to me. Often sits around on her phone. When I show her the mess and dirt she leaves, she rolls her eyes. One time told me « I don’t care, shut up, you are so annoying and you are not my boss, just do it for me, and left »

Management is often angry at us on WhatsApp and often complains about the mess and dirt she leaves. We both get blamed for her lazy horrible cleaning.

I tried speaking to her a million times, she told me she doesn’t care and to stfu.

After 6 months of this and yet another angry complaint hinting they’ll fire us, I had enough and contacted the cleaning company boss, asking him to please speak to her and that the area they were angry about, was hers.

I get this message

She never blames you Kate. We do not blame each other. Snitching is gross behaviour Kate. You are both a team and should work together! You are being an annoying snitch. A tattle tale. Just disgusting behaviour from you. Stop snitching, I don’t want to hear it

Leave and then name and shame - this is not how you treat people who work for you - horrible behaviour from them

Champers66 · 18/06/2024 19:38

Which 2% voted YABU, are you both thick?

Grammarnut · 18/06/2024 19:46

Find another job, they can't be bothered to do theirs.

Horses7 · 18/06/2024 20:02

YANBU - get another job fast

wearemodernidiots · 18/06/2024 20:07

Plenty of cleaning jobs out there; find another one.

Sillyname63 · 18/06/2024 20:16

Not sure how she has done this, but she wrote this, is she married to or having an affair with the boss?
Definitely look for another job ASAP.

Sillyname63 · 18/06/2024 20:19

Just a thought have a word with the manager of the place you work at, ask them if they would employ you directly to do the cleaning as you are doing all any way. Work out what your hourly rate would be , if it needs two people you could look out for someone to work with you.

Find another job and leave

This

you don’t need to tolerate this- cleaners with work ethic are in demand. Why don’t you consider going s/e?

JaneyGunn85 · 18/06/2024 20:43

Get another job this one sounds awful

Riversideandrelax · 18/06/2024 20:47

Run.

Unicornhat · 18/06/2024 20:49

Wow. Leave but claim for constructive dismissal. Extremely unprofessional

Turquoise123 · 18/06/2024 22:27

Sorry this has happened to you and hope that you can find another job.

Cherrysoup · 18/06/2024 22:32

Bloody hell! Definitely leave! They’ll soon see who was doing the work! Bloody hell!

Queenoftheuniverseandgalaxy · 18/06/2024 23:14

I am starting to think they are somehow related/together like many of you said.

He makes everyone go through training/test to see how they work. He made another lady who applied with her run around and clean for 2 hours, but she came in late and he just sat her down and asked questions/showed her around

I though it was weird he hired her over a more experienced lady.

If previous cleaners made a mistake or missed something, and managers would complain, he would always send angry messages, sometimes shouting, DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN, GOT IT? APOLOGIZE NOW, ONE MORE MISTAKE AND YOU ARE OUT But with her he keeps making excuses or not saying much. Even when one manager caught her sitting on her phone and she was rude to the chef who came in

I just didn’t think because they shook hands, introduced themselves like they met for the first time when they met, they act like strangers when together

Typical behaviour of Managers who don’t/can’t manage unfortunately !

Expect to have your areas swooped around so you end up doing everything.

Leave asap.

Queenoftheuniverseandgalaxy · 18/06/2024 23:21

He sent another message saying I am to blame for management complains because working as a team, I should make sure my partner has help, tell her if she makes a mistake/leaves dirt and misses something…

Its one thing when a person makes honest mistakes, it’s another when he is just lazy and doesn’t care….

Looks like he wants me to shut up and continue cleaning up after her

I like your guys idea about starting my own cleaning business, maybe I should

There is no HR I think, he owns this company, it’s his small cleaning business

Soo true haha!

AmIEnough · 19/06/2024 08:06

Your boss is a child and an arse!!! How can they not see how badly her behaviour reflects on the company you work for? I would definitely look for another job you are not valued at all and deserve so much better.

RailwayCutting · 19/06/2024 08:16

He doesn't deserve your good work. He deserves lazy bum's crap work and for clients to ditch their services and write stinking reviews about him

senua · 19/06/2024 08:43

He sent another message saying I am to blame for management complains because working as a team, I should make sure my partner has help, tell her if she makes a mistake/leaves dirt and misses something…
Ask him if that means that he has promoted you to supervisor. With a corresponding increase in pay, ofc.

anon666 · 19/06/2024 09:17

I'm desperate for you to leave and then he will be left with the problem.

You're doing the work of two right now, please don't carry on enabling them. X
