.....Chinese food ordered Friday night, cooled and then stored in the fridge since. Worth microwaving today and eating or bin it? Special fried rice, salt and pepper chicken pieces and sweet chilli crispy beef.

YABU bin it
YANBU chuck it in the microwave for ages til it's boiling and it'll be fine

I thought this was going to be about a baby and this is much more exciting!

bin it, sadly. Maybe order more though - now I want Chinese too!

LordSnot · 17/06/2024 12:39

Three-day-old rice is a hard no. The spores aren't killed by microwave or the heat you can achieve in a normal kitchen.

And before someone says it, it doesn't matter if the food looks and smells fine. Food poisoning bacteria doesn't change smell or appearance.

Binned! I wasn't sure but also didn't want to waste it. Was supposed to be finished on Saturday but I forgot about it. Sad times.

This is criminal

I wouldn't eat the rice but I'd demolish the chicken and beef. I've eaten far older takeaway stuff and not died yet.

I feel it. Absolutely gutted.

The only way to make penance is order another Chinese and have it for lunch and dinner.

sarahc336 · 17/06/2024 12:44

Defo not the rice 🙈🙈🙈

fairymary87 · 17/06/2024 12:46

Gutted for you OP, this is sad :(

pontipinemum · 17/06/2024 12:46

I think you made the right choice. I know you said you forgot it but I often freeze left over Chinese for lunch a few days later

ExtraOnions · 17/06/2024 12:47

I would have the whole thing .. stored in the fridge .. Nuked in the microwave

Mate don't. I'm devastated. I only get Chinese about once every 6 months because no one else in the house likes it. I always get enough for 2 meals. This time I've let myself down. Might have to have another one this week to make up for it.

I would reheat within 24h but not after 3 days. I know someone who gave themselves a bad dose of food poisoning with reheated Chinese food, that did involve prawns though!

earlymorningcurlewcall · 17/06/2024 15:10

I'd have binned the rice but eaten the rest, unless it was all mixed in together.
