NEXT plc accusing me of fraud

Bought 9 pairs of sandals online, sent all but 1 pair back. Now Next are saying 4 boxes were empty when received. Bizarrely they refunded me for these 4 but not the other 4 and have sent me an email demanding that I cover the cost of these shoes plus £35 for investigation fees.

Aibu to feel completely wronged?!

Obviously when I sent it all shoes were present and accounted for.

Definitely will return through store in future

Hope you’re going to fight this OP!

Beautifulbythebay · 15/06/2024 13:57

Ah Evri.... Store refused me a refund as Evri sent a photo of the item delivered to my locked front door step. I was on holiday. The Evri driver claimed it was my back door step. The back door
A has no step.
B back door is surrounded by 3 x10 foot walls...
C Evri don't AFAIK employ ninjas..
Took 9 months to get my money back.
Worst delivery service ever.. 1 driver signed he had taken parcel back to the depot as nobody in.. I was sat at the front window with 2 of my ddogs. Nobody knocked...
Unless they employ Harry Potter and the parcel was inside his invisibility cloak.

Here again, it’s Next choosing evri, a company known for its often useless service!

What is the problem with ordering 9 pairs of sandals?
I do huge online orders, there's barely any shops where I live, sizes are very unpredictable and I'm not paying multiple times for delivery.

I'd definitely fight this OP.

Howdoesitworkagain · 15/06/2024 14:02

I don’t know why people are laying into OP for ordering 9 pairs of shoes.

Next allows it. Next sets the rates for delivery and returns. Next choose Evri as carrier of choice.

None of this is OP’s fault. I wonder if you’re the same people who would cry “victim blaming” in another situation.

rainbowunicorn · 15/06/2024 14:03

Loads of people order lots of things a d then return. It is better to order all 9 at once and return the 8 uou don't want in one go rather than 9 separate deliveries followed by 8 separate collections for returns.

The sizes are definitely unpredictable, again because a lot is made in China. I ordered two bras, exactly the same size, different colours - completely different sizing.

Thanks to the sensible people. You always get the usual eejits who love to get their knickers in a twist 🤣🤣

I'll fight it till the bitter end dinnae worry!!

I don't know why you're getting a hard time for ordering nine pairs either! But I groan inside when I see an online retailer uses Evri and I often wonder if my parcel will ever be received/returned

Yep, missing the whole point of the thread (for whatever bizarre reason, again).

MarthaDunstable · 15/06/2024 14:08

If I were trying to find a pair of shoes for a wedding and shopping in store then I might very well try on 9 pairs in order to find the one which I like and which fits comfortably. That's why I personally don't buy shoes online. But if I were living somewhere where I didn't have good shoe shops available then of course I'd end up ordering loads and returning most of them.

Smart sandals aren't like a hoodie - they need to fit exactly.

Actually, I’m pretty confident they will!! Nothing better to do.

Good lass. I phoned them when they were accusing me, I was bloody furious! Had at ‘em.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 15/06/2024 14:12

9 pairs???? Wow, 9 pairs of shoes/sandals online, wow

OP - look online for a customer services number yourself and give them a call. IMO its a scam

Same.

Do the judgey posters wonder about amazon and their FREE returns?? There’s a reason it’s easy with Amazon. Jeff Bezos knows Amazon will take over everything eventually. China is the intended manufacturing unit.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 15/06/2024 14:22

I have tiny, funny shaped feet and find trying on in shops just stressful so I'll order online and often order multiple pairs like OP because of this.

OP, fight it and in future always return in store. Evri are robbers, can't remember the last time they delivered a parcel to my home that hadn't been opened before it got to me. Luckily it's usually rubbish they clearly don't want.

Dontbeabitterlemon · 15/06/2024 14:26

Next just said they ate 'investigating' and will get back to me next week. They can appreciate my frustration. Fekn b*stards lol

Read that as “Ok, we’ll play for time here, can’t admit defeat yet, have to pretend we’re actually DOING something- then we’ll accept she’s a valued customer and we’ll let this go”.

Dontbeabitterlemon · 15/06/2024 13:48

I know how morally reprehensible of me 🙄🙄🙄

It's more the fact that it would look like a suspicious transaction to a retailer buying 9 pairs then sending all but 1 back. You must surely be able to see that?

Dontbeabitterlemon · 15/06/2024 14:41

Hope do thanks eatcrow

Next are a bit crap with returns. I ordered a tracksuit and instead of the top I got sent a bra. I called them and they sent me a replacement jumper. They asked me to send the bra back which I did and they then refunded me the top. The amount of difficulty I had in persuading them that they shouldn't have refunded me was really quite surprising.

Firefliesflight · 15/06/2024 14:47

I think there was a similar thread put up not so long ago about someone having the same sort of issue with ASOS. Might be worth having a search for it to see if they managed to get it resolved.

But Next aren't saying that at all. They are saying that 4 pairs of shoes are missing from the return.

If there's a magic number of items ordered that "looks suspicious" then they shouldn't send them out, or allow returns.
