Period on day 17 of cycle - 10 days early

I’ve started my period today and that’s 17 days early!
I’m 35 and this is practically unheard of for me. Usually I’m bang on 26/27 days.
I feel like I didn’t ovulate this month or if I did it was basically just a few days after my period ended.
I’m having some strange symptoms that I don’t normally have - a constant feeling that I need to wee but it feels like a urine infection. It’s really strange.
I’m not really having my usual cramping etc . And it is definitely a proper period - although it started like spotting, now progressed into bleeding.

Should I contact the GP?

Have you been ill recently? Or done something stressful like changed jobs?

My period always gets messed up if I've been ill during the month or had a major life event.
The worst period I ever had was the first one I had after getting Covid for the first time. It came early and was THE most painful one I've had in nearly 30 years.

I’ve had exactly the same this month, I started yesterday on day 19 which is 10 days early for me. I thought it might be ovulation but it’s soooooo heavy. Did you get to the bottom of what it was?x

I had a weird cycle like this- I ovulated during my period then my next one came at day 16!
I would wait and see if they go back to normal next month- could just be an odd one

I had this, and it turned out I was pregnant.

It could be the start of peri-menopause.

My periods started to go weird when I was 34 - heavier bleeding but a shorter period, then a longer period, then a shorter cycle. I got checked out and the GP said it's likely to be early peri-menopause. It's quite common for symptoms to begin in your mid thirties unfortunately!

If you're worried I'd definitely get checked out but it's likely to be hormonal rather than anything sinister. I also had issues with mid-cycle bleeding about 8 years ago and after a bunch of tests and a scan, that was put down to hormones too.
