Scared woken up with this rash all over me

I’ve been unwell since Sunday with flu like symptoms - fever, body aches, chills and fatigue. I had hives on Wednesday which seemed to go away with anti histamine. Then this morning I’ve woken up covered apart from my face in this rash as I’ve attached the photo. The skin on my stomach is the worst.
My hands are sore and stiff as well. What the hell is going on? My fever has gone now. I’m going to call the GP surgery as soon as it opens but I’m really scared as I’ve never had anything like this.

The only place not effected is my face.

To me it looks like measles but I had my MMR as a child.

It looks like a post viral rash .
Did you have a sore throat?
Thinking strep A or something perhaps?
Also the stuff fingers and hands I had after I had the "slapped cheek" virus
I think I had a rash on my body with that too

Peasnbeans · 14/06/2024 06:53

When I get a sore throat I get this. Something to do with streptococcus.

Holidaaaaay · 14/06/2024 06:53

Looks like just a viral rash.

Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 06:54

It’s also quite itchy and a sort of burning sensation on and off

OP posts:
Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 06:55

No I didn’t have a sore throat with it. Does it sound like I need antibiotics?

Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 06:57

I have major health anxiety so this kind of thing sends me into a panic.

Stopandlook · 14/06/2024 06:58

Can you email photos to your GP?

Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 07:00

@Stopandlook is that better than physically going in?

I'd ring NHS111, if only to put your mind at ease. A GP appointment could be anytime today. Better to get some antibiotics or whatever is needed sooner rather than later.

PrimalLass · 14/06/2024 07:02

I had a rash like that with glandular fever.

midgetastic · 14/06/2024 07:02

Does it fade when pressed

WonderingWanda · 14/06/2024 07:03

Its just a post viral rash. My dh has been getting these since covid when he is unwell...not sure if it's because of being unwell with covid or just something new his immune system is doing. It will fade after a couple of days.

ATribeCalledQuestion · 14/06/2024 07:03

It's likely a viral rash and nothing to worry about. Do you have a pharmacist local to you? I'd pop in and speak to them if you can.

Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 07:03

Yes it fades when pressed

It looks like a viral rash to me, my kids have had it in the past, but worth getting checked for sure

AGlinnerOfHope · 14/06/2024 07:04

I got that as a child, they called it scarletina. Viral rashes aren't uncommon. It's not necessarily anything terrible, just your body fighting off infection.

AstonMartha · 14/06/2024 07:05

You will get all sorts of suggestions on here, none of which will help your health anxiety.
Best to get it checked out.

Needhelp101 · 14/06/2024 07:07

OP, I had EXACTLY that rash, all over my body but not my face, after being unwell with a virus. It faded after a few days as I got better.
But as a PP has suggested, you can always try calling 111for some extra reassurance.

RampantKrampus · 14/06/2024 07:07

Looks and sounds like a a viral rash.

GP appointment is fine. 111 won’t be able to do anything other than advise you see your GP. Obviously if you deteriorate that’s another issue but it sounds like you are over the worst.

midgetastic · 14/06/2024 07:11

Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 07:03

Yes it fades when pressed

That's ok then - it's the ones that don't fade that indicate a real problem

ElderMillenials · 14/06/2024 07:16

my dc has measles and the rash looks similar. Also had MMR so the infection is mild, our GP said it's getting quite common because so many didn't vaccinate but didn't seem overly concerned.

Polkadotshort · 14/06/2024 07:22

A child in my son’s class has slapped cheek at the moment.
The rash is starting to feel itchy and irritated now. Do you think it’s worth taking anti histamine or wait until I’ve seen someone?

Antihistamines definitely won't hurt

SallyWD · 14/06/2024 07:28

Could it be hives? Urticaria? An allergic reaction to something? I woke up once with a rash and then got low blood pressure so was very faint. An antihistamine sorted me out.
