Right, I'm going to start watching at lunch time.

I need to see this.

Watching with increasing expletives shouted at the screen . Oh my ….
FLT’s the lot of them .

FLTs in my world are Fork Lift Trucks...😀

Why did they all think Gareth Jenkins was 'Dr'?

Yes I wondered that.

Found this, which doesn't answer the Q but is pretty clear there's no sign Jenkins has ever been entitled to "Dr".

He just has an MA, and given he's a Cantab it's probably a meaningless one. (Cantab & Oxon BAs get them automatically if they haven't buggered the bursar within ~4 years of graduating.)

Horizon IT Scandal: British Computer Society Role in Scandal Exposed

An ongoing public interest investigation by the software audit firm Engprax has revealed how the British Computer Society (BCS) had a role in the Horizon IT Scandal. Following an intervention by Engprax, the BCS says it has now “pledged to take any app...

Nauticant’s point makes sense re Mr (not Dr) Jenkins - and the PO were presumably super-keen to credit what they thought was their star technical witness with academic gravitas he didn’t possess. Pity it turned out to be a custard pie flung in their faces.

Peregrina · 13/06/2024 12:37

I went away. Have they broken for lunch? In which case, I have things I ought to be doing instead of watching this.

NO this is just another short morning break. The lunch break will be at 1.30.

nauticant · 13/06/2024 12:42

Late second morning break. Late lunch break from 13.40 to 14.30 (I think).

Just started watching, but from the beginning.

He is not what I imagined at all.

Peregrina · 13/06/2024 12:49

He completely lacks gravitas.

nauticant · 13/06/2024 12:52

Because they speak slowly for the stenographer then if you stick playback speed at 1.5x it's still straightforward to follow minou123.

Ahh, the infamous Amy Prime email about suppressing the Investigations Guidelines "in a way that looks legitimate". It turns out the truly awful, and professionally disgraceful, wording was Parsons'.

Parsons looking unhappier here than he has all morning. That's quite something.

"I'm not wrong, and I'm not sorry, I just worded it inappropriately strongly."

Lunde · 13/06/2024 13:06

He is so busted - will he be struck off?

DanielGault · 13/06/2024 13:08

You wouldn't be rushing out to hire him anyway!

Lunde · 13/06/2024 13:06

I don't see it so far. His risk is that his name becomes such mud that he gets the heave-ho from the Burrow.

I'm looking forward to the week in which Gareth Jenkins appears at the hearing, (first day of which is Tuesday 25th June).

Lunde · 13/06/2024 13:17

Is this him? He looks really different from his photo - dropped a lot of weight.

Is it significant that he is based at the Southampton office?

CustardySergeant · 13/06/2024 13:18

This is such sickening viewing.

nauticant · 13/06/2024 13:18

Oh, lunch now, coming back at 14.15.

OP posts:
minou123 · 13/06/2024 13:19

Yes, that's him @Lunde

I cant really comment because my official work photo is very different from.how i look like normally - a lot of photoshopping and filters 😅

Much less of a fur covering than I was expecting.

OP posts:
Quebeccles · 13/06/2024 13:39

I wouldn’t have recognised him from that photo.

nauticant · 13/06/2024 15:02

I've not done an hour of the mediation scheme and I'm losing the will to live. Imagine going through month after month of the scheme with whether you keep your home depending on getting a positive answer.

The mediation scheme looks to have been designed as a way to grind the last vestiges of fight out of those subpostmasters who hadn't by that point given up completely in despair.

Anyone still around to explain what's going on to me? Missed the first bit back after lunch. Totally lost now!
