Period delaying pills

I need some for my summer holiday but I've never taken them before so I'm a bit uncertain about what to do.

It says to start taking them 3 days before period is due but my cycle can sometimes be a bit irregular so how would I know when to start?

Also the 30 x pill packet at 3 a day would only take me to the second last day of my holiday. Would it be likely to start the day after I stop taking them? Really confused on the timings more than anything.

The alternative would be to start the contraceptive pill and run the packs together

I got mine through Superdrug. My period doesn't always start on the correct day but I use the Flo app which tells me when I'm likely to start and took it 3 days before it said I would. Worked really well. Period started about 3 days after taking the last pill.

Took these before my wedding. It didn’t stop any of the period symptoms, just the bleeding. I also felt awful on them, my MH was really poor and had lots of anxiety. I was fine as soon as I stopped the tablets. My next period was horrendous so I never took them again and wish I’d known of the risks of these symptoms as I really wouldn’t have bothered.

I took norethestrone last year & although it did stop my period it made me feel so awful that I didnt attend the event I had planned anyway 🤦‍♀️

I didnt even realise it was the norethestrone that had made me unwell until a few months later when reading someone elses side effects on them. At the time I just thought I'd suddenly come down with the flu and couldnt believe my bad luck

I had these once and I felt bloated, fat, sluggish and rotten until I came off them and then I had a horrendous period. I wouldn't do it again. It was like the pmt and fat feeling the of the day before your period is due, but 10 times worse and for an entire week. I also got a hormonal acne break out.

I have found that menstrual disk (pixie disc incase anybody is interested) to be about the best thing. I basically forget I'm on my period with it in. Empty every 12 hours. The fit is really good never had a leak with it and I do yoga and all sorts. Could pair with tranexamic acid if flow is heavy, which is what I do for holidays.

I’m on them right now. My cycle is erratic so I started them 3 days before coming on holiday so I know it’s safe. Can’t remember when my period came after stopping them last time.

Are you talking about Tranexamic Acid?
I was prescribed them long term - didn't stop my periods, allegedly reduced the flow, but not sure if they did. They did give me DVT.
Probably fine short term - but don't bank on them working.

No it’s probably norethisterone which actually stops you bleeding. I’m on them right now.

If its norethestrone then I've taken them twice. Once for mu wedding/honeymoon and once for a holiday. Massive water retention made me feel bloated and sluggish
