Started a temporary job in December which is due to finish end of August. Last minute got asked if I want to stay on a bit longer (another year) I said I’ll think about it. I was chatting to work colleague just casually and mentioned the fact they offered me to stay on and just in passing explained my doubts - I’ve seen another job which is permanent and might suit me better but I feel staying in this job is easier right now as I have young kids and not much is expected of me in terms of I finish work and that’s it nothing to take home or do over weekend. I didn’t expect her to repeat this conversation to anyone as I thought we were close and it was obvious without being told directly that this was in confidence.
well she repeated the conversation, and my manager asked to see me and told me I need to be clear if I’m staying as they need to advertise. I was a little put on spot.
AIBU to think she had no place repeating our private conversation? She did tell me later she said something but I didn’t say anything as she made it out she was helping me. I’ve been stewing about it all weekend and feel a little annoyed.
