To not understand the fuss over Taylor Swift.

Now. I don’t dislike or have any hate for the woman at all. She is very pretty, talented and it sounds like she is a good person. Not my taste in music, but some of her songs sound good.

but omg. People seem to be bloody obsessed with the lady. £300 a ticket to the Edinburgh show. People queuing from 5am to get near the front.

as a guide leader in 2010 or thereabouts I remember some 12 year old girls declaring their love for her. But it seems like lots of adults seem to love her too!

as another huge fan I think A Perfectly Good Heart has a strong case for her worst song! How she put that on the album leaving off I'd Lie is something I will never understand.

I am offending people ??? I think it's the other way around. If MY beliefs are offending anyone then that's definitely an issue with them. I am allowed to make a point just as others are, just because you chose to have a different perspective doesn't make it right to throw attacks on me or God when it wasn't even a direct attack on anyone. Truthfully I didn't say anything bad, and anyone can choose to look past. The main point I was trying to make was that it feels so wrong to spend a ridiculous amount on a celebrity when there is so much chaos around us, & that's MY opinion. However, I do agree Taylor is meh and there is absolutely nothing special about her, again MY opinion.

I just don’t think her songs are great. They a quite benign. She is talented at creating good pop songs, but not to the level of people getting quite so OTT. But I don’t think anyone is worth such vast amounts of money and adoration to be honest. It’s odd what we value as a society.

Beg to differ, sincerely from billions of people in the world. I always find it interesting that the same people who are sooooo offended and triggered by the word God, are probably the same people when something unbearable happens in their life, turn and ask God if he's real and to help. No hate I swear just love always.

I don't really like Taylor Swifts music but I do get why she's successful.

She writes relatable songs, fairly bland but great to sing a long too
She markets herself as a good person, nothing controversial. Cares about women's rights but never says anything too much
She allows her fans a good insight into her personality and private life, making them feel like her friends
There has been massive hype around her doing this once in a lifetime tour
Again massive sm hype in other countries about going to her tour
She's very pretty
She has absolutely fantastic marketing

It's not difficult to understand. And if people are going to get excited about a popstar it might as well be her

Oddly shake it off reminds me of 3 of my Danish now long grown Girl Guides. It came on the radio as I was driving somewhere and when it got to the rap bit they all rapped along in the most perfect English. I'd never heard them utter a U English before that so it was a very pleasant shock!

I've paid hundreds of pounds to go and see people perform, it's an experience you never forget so well worth a few hundred quid for memories that last a lifetime imo.

TS music isn't really my thing, but there's no denying she's a PR genius, and millions love her.

You don't have to get the fuss, the people who are fussing are having a great time.

Of course it's on a celebrity. You can have a good time without continuously filling a celebrity's pocket. However, as I mentioned in a previous post, it is 100% your choice, I am not telling anyone how they should spend it. I am simply making a point that it just feels wrong. As a society, how much do we help others compared to making the rich richer ? It's a hard pill to swallow and I understand why anyone would feel defensive over it.

It again depends on what you see as ‘benign’. She was under a lot of record company control until very recently, so ‘pop princess’ songs are a lot of what you’d hear put out. Her Reputation album though, it’s a masterpiece. It’s very easy to hear what’s put out on the radio and think she bland, when her real work comes out in albums.

I would not give her a penny. (She does need it I know) Is she preachy? because she actually is polluting like hell with her private jet trips.

I am weirdly fascinated by the hype around TS. It's not my music, and I totally get that different people like different things, spend loads of money on different passions, and have done so for years for Beatles, Take That, Madonna etc. With Taylor it seems somehow extra , and I'm interested in it as what it shows as a cultural phenomenon - globalisation, hype and promotion through social media etc. The economic effect her tour has to the extent that global leaders invite her play in their country to help their economy. Cities like Liverpool transforming themselves to Taylor town to maximise the economic effect. The power and influence this gives her. Fascinating to watch, and interesting to question how it happened. And good on her! Nice to see the phenomen playing out for a lovely woman.

Taylor swift makes a point of paying people who work for her a decent wage and giving them employment benefits. She gave bonuses totalling £55million on top of salaries. She gave her truck drivers £100k bonuses when they'd normally receive about £5k from other artists. Goodness me, what a bitch.

Making rich richer - afaik she doesn't come from big old money, so this is a case of working hard, being lucky and becoming rich, like JKR.

And big part of her charm is that she kind of helps her audience, giving them sharing and community. The fact that she and her fans manage to create a community vibe even in huge concerts is one of her biggest talents.

Again the point you're missing out on. I didn't come here saying , you have to believe in God or came with the intention of trying to shove it down anyone's throat. However, I am 100% in my right to also defend my beliefs even if it's not a fact to you. It doesn't't give anyone a right to offend me either just because you chose to live your life differently. Again, I didn't say anything bad but it seems God triggers some people but it doesn't mean you should attack me either because I believe in God 😕

Anyway, the topic is around fuss being made about Taylor swift, and my views are that she is not worth the hype and she/ many celebrities do not deserve people's hard worked money, especially with so many chaos RIGHT now as we speak. That's MY opinion. If it's different for others then that's fine.
