I'm selling a pram on Facebook marketplace. I've had a few messages asking for my bank details and PayPal etc, I've responded saying cash only on collection, and had people lose interest instantly so assuming it's a scam.

Latest message attached. My partner reckons this looks dodgy too, but I'm wondering how they'll scam us if they are literally bringing cash to the door?

Yep total scam.

ActualCannibalShiaLeBeouf · 06/06/2024 23:48

Nobody does stuff like that

FBmarketplace · 06/06/2024 23:48

Thanks. How does this scam work though? I'm intrigued. I'm not giving over any details other than my address for collection?

Yeh it's total bullshit. Just delete

BadgeringBastard · 06/06/2024 23:50

It’s something weird but they do it with DPD too and it ends up escalating. All very suspect.

IsANameImportant · 06/06/2024 23:50

I believe what happens is the person gives you money and takes the pram. Then they complain to say they didn’t receive it. You then have to pay them back and you now no longer have the pram or the money.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 06/06/2024 23:51

I wondered how it works too OP, so I googled it....

Ahhh thank you. This makes sense. God clever aren't they!?

Who would buy something without seeing it first? That alone tells you it's a scam.

Aquamarine1029 · 06/06/2024 23:55

Good grief, don't ever have people come to your home to purchase something you've listed on FB marketplace.

TimeForTeaAndG · 06/06/2024 23:55

If you Google courier cash scam there's loads of explanations. They ask for an insurance fee and send a phishing link. The cash is fake. Just block anyone who says they'll send a courier.

CJ0374 · 06/06/2024 23:58

Very common scam! Don't engage and block.
