Mind the Government fucked up their funding calculation this year based on projected pupil numbers. So no guarantee they will get it right in future years

Dryplate · 05/06/2024 19:17

Plus of course, if the idea is that you all apply for places and don't take them, it will make no difference at all to anyone in schools.

Summerdays24 · 05/06/2024 19:17

HandaFae · 05/06/2024 19:16

You are talking absolute rubbish.

Government data shows that EVERY county has spare school places.

In fact in some LA’s 100% of schools are under capacity. Many have 80% of schools under capacity.

Not for the number we are talking!!

Labour are not telling you the truth about the projections or the impact.

Summerdays24 · 05/06/2024 19:18

I feel so sorry for those totally unprepared for this, and their children.

K0OLA1D · 05/06/2024 19:18

Be a bit daft wouldn't it. Bit like going on an NHS waiting list when you could afford to go private

DarkForces · 05/06/2024 19:18

Summerdays24 · 05/06/2024 19:14

Good luck with that 🤣🤣🤣🤣

But that's literally what happens. Around here schools compete for a bulge class because it comes with extra funding.

Summerdays24 · 05/06/2024 19:17

Not for the number we are talking!!

Labour are not telling you the truth about the projections or the impact.

As of May 2023, 83% of primary schools (nearly 14,000) had one or more unfilled places. This rate has been the same since 2021 and maintains the highest rate in over a decade, reflective of the falling primary population. For secondary schools, 77% had one or more unfilled place (nearly 3,000 schools) -
London has more private schools than anywhere else and has more schools of empty school places in particularly at primary.

Summerdays24 · 05/06/2024 19:19

Some on here are so desperate to get Labour in - they can’t see that it’s their children that will pay the price for the next decade. It’s not just going to be one year.

crumblingschools · 05/06/2024 19:19

@K0OLA1D Starmer said he would do that

Don't worry. We'll be fine. We've been hardened by state schooling 😂

Cotopoxy · 05/06/2024 19:19

Live in Edinburgh here. Plenty of space in the schools propping up the bottom of the league tables. If your catchment is oversubscribed you’ll be allocated a place in one of these schools no doubt. You’d have been much more likely to get a spot in your catchment school had so many parents not stuffed up the waiting lists by applying for places they have no intention in taking up just to make a political point…

What for 300,000 kids - who is paying for that?

The tax payer!!!!
so taxes will increase even more.

Just idiotic!

dottiedodah · 05/06/2024 19:21

I dont get all the panic here TBH. Keir Starmer has not won the election yet! No guarantee he will .Surely wait to see what happens first.I would have loved to send my DC privately ,however it was not financially viable .I have friends whose DC went to fee paying schools .No biggie ,still friends and just accept different lifestyles is all. There are sneery articles written by jealous mums attacking private education.Horrible situation all round

This is current government data showing a huge number of unused school places, nothing to do with Labour.

I'm not feeding the troll any longer and suggest others don't either. I'm not sure what you are gaining @Summerdays24 . Your responses are clearly untrue.

Well yes, if 300,000 children want to take the school place they're entitled to then the state will have to fund them. I don't think it's very likely though

ApplePippa · 05/06/2024 19:22

Well this thread has certainly been eye opening!

If I were a private school parent, I would be cringing with embarrassment at the tantruming on this thread. It's like some people have never had anything not go their way before...

Devilsmommy · 05/06/2024 16:02

It's always the ones who can afford it no problem who are the tightest cunts going🙄

Yes, I've realised this is how a lot of rich people stay rich, by being tight with their money.

State Schools are likely to go bankrupt!!

Edited

You can't even tell us which county you're so sure has no places (clue, it doesn't exisit) what makes you an expert in school funding?

An increase in student numbers in state schools is excellent news for budgets.

Really don't think this thread is representative of the majority of private school parents.

I guess it will be covered by the increased VAT revenues and it would be excellent news for state schools 😜

I'd be concerned that the use of exclamation marks was not being taught. I've never seen so many in my life.

I've reported them for spamming threads (this isn't their first rodeo) so might be useful if others do too.
