to wish common people would modify their tipping in the waffle house?

I'm a waitress in St Albans and I'm very happy to receive a few pence in appreciation - it's a nice touch. But it gets my goat when people leave £2 and think they are setting me off on the first rung of the property ladder.

lol swedes

You do serve a lovely waffle though. At this rate, you'll be able to buy yourself a Chloe handbag and a cottage in the Cotswolds.

Exellent advice from cottage. This might suit.

I bid on this versatile property at auction but it went 20% over guide price and sold for 48p

I think you are very lucky to get £2, where I work I am often given 25p as if it is a generous gift. I am of the view that you should only tip if you genuinely believe the service was worth a proper tip, otherwise it is a bit derisory.

ShinyPinkShoes · 06/04/2008 23:36

As lovely as the waffle house is, £2 per customer X 10( at a guess) customers a shift is £20 a shift which isn't half bad really if you consider the salary you'll be getting as well.

If you did 5 shifts a week that's £400 a month which would go a long way towards a deposit on a property.

Ah, have just read the other thread and realise that this is probably a bit tongue in cheek.

Oh I see. I spent a whole minute last night thinking that waitress in St Albans waffle house was not how I had pictured Swedes at all.

piratecat · 07/04/2008 09:12

my 'eh??' was not directed at the Op!! Unfortunately my post did not go directly after the one i intended.

anyway, I hope the wafle hous eis much more profitable today
