Same industry - long hours and almost 3 hours of travelling a day...

MIL hasn't bothered to even phone him to wish him well, and when he told her he had a new job, was sad that he was still not making it home a 5 every weeknight...

I know DH is not a kid, but he isn't the most confident individual and a phone call wouldn't go amiss...

YANBU

FWIW, my H moved out 3 weeks ago Friday just gone, my parents have phoned me twice since then, once (the day after he moved out) as it was my birthday, the 2nd time to get H's new address so they could send him his cheque for the money my granddad left to him.

Not so much as a "how are you doing".......

I guess it depends on their relationship. If it's the sort of thing she would normally do then it would be out of character for her not to and she probably has a good reason for not calling. If it isn't the sort of thing she would normally do then I don't think he'll be expecting it anyway.

Good luck to him. I used to commute a good hour + each way every day and it was bloody annoying! I did a lot of puzzles and listened to a lot of radio though.

The joys of working in London and having to live miles away so you don't spend your entire income paying for substandard housing...

I suppose DH and his mum have an OK relationship, but she kind of thinks that because we have decided to live in the UK we earn pounds (therefore we are loaded!! ) and intl phone calls are too expensive...

FAQ - read your recent posts - sorry that your parents can't be more supportive - hope you are getting the support you need...
