I have been asked to take on a new role for 3-6 months to help another dept in my workplace. I’m not LEAVING my dept, I will still have the same team lead for my pay/AL etc but my instructions will come from another team lead.I will also have the option of staying if I really like it My workplace offers a 10% pay increase on secondment or these circumstances. My question is if I stay does the 10% extra stick and if I don’t do I loose it? So is the 10% only for the 3-6months do you think?

Wouldn’t that be something you’d clarify with them before taking on the role?

Nobody on here knows the rules of your workplace, but why would you think you'd still get the 10% pay increase if you stopped the secondment?

YABU as you need to talk to your manager/HR; different companies have different rules

@Bluevelvetsofa i haven’t actually officially said yes…i have asked a few people who were none the wiser and my HR rep is on A/L so I’m just ruminating I suppose

This is a question for your employer, not Mumsnet. Every company/organisation has its own rules on this kind of thing.

It will be a blanket policy across the whole organisation, so you can ask anyone in HR. It doesn't have to be your specific rep.

I have had experience of a secondment in the past. I found it interesting, learnt new things & met different people.
I also added the secondment onto my CV
In my case, there was no permanent opportunity to join that team.

I've done two secondments and am on one currently.
I love them, you can try something new, gain new skills and go back to your role at the end. Brilliant way of gaining skills and seeing what you might like to progress too or not!

@BunkerHome @socks1107 thank you. I’m very excited to get the opportunity ☺️
