Totally hoodwinked with garden furniture

Indeed just that!!

Been looking for garden furniture for weeks - first world problems I know!!! But we’ve literally had no furniture now for years and I’m sick of sitting on the rusty old deckchairs we’ve got

So I bought a lovely corner sofa with rising table off a website. Checked reviews and all looked fine.

Delivery arrived today - not quite the colour rattan we had seen online but it’s fine, it will go.

Major issues though - 2/3rds of the actual sofa hasn’t arrived. Fine to wait a few days for this. BUT the table has a completely glass covered top - the photo online showed a non glass covered top which is why we chose it as we simply DID NOT WANT a glass topped table (house full of kids plus dog - we know it won’t work for us!) - and not just that but it’s basically just rested on top of rattan. Disaster waiting to happen

Company saying this is now the table that is supplied with that set and yes - the photos online are incorrect.

Company refusing to refund or collect what’s been delivered so far. Added photos to show we we ordered and what was delivered

Where do I stand? Paid with credit card

And just to add, we wouldn’t have orders the set knowing it had glass on the table as we were so strongly against having glass - you couldn’t actually use the table without the glass as the rattan isn’t solid either

You can open up a dispute with your credit card company.

What does the description say?

You have th3 right to cancel under distance selling regulations. If the company won’t accept your cancellation disputes it with your credit card company. https://www.gov.uk/online-and-distance-selling-for-businesses

What does the description say?

It literally says rattan and aluminium table top - which is what it should have been. Retailer has admitted that the table supplied is a replacement for that and they no longer stock the table they have advertised

But is it glass-glass or PlexiGlass?... Also, our table has a glass top and it is fine, glass is secured by suction cups buttons (I am sure yours is, too - buttons could be in the packaging somewhere). It's been years, dogs, kids, couple of storms, neighbours trampoline blowing over, a move across the country and no issues with it whatsoever. I'm cleaning it with Karcher jet thing every spring, not a chip.

It’s glass glass - and we’ve had glass before and my daughter smashed it. Have quite an exposed garden and we’ve had furniture we really wouldn’t expect blow over. Boys play football too. Just too many reasons that it would absolutely smash quite quickly so hence we really didn’t want glass

Anyway - appears they will accept me packaging back up and returning!!! I informed them that they either collect and return or I’d be doing a section 75 claim - soon changed their minds
