A couple of weeks into it now and it’s really starting to get me down, has anyone got anything similar?

LemonDrizzlecake12 · 30/05/2024 10:23

Whooping cough is going around.

mummymeister · 30/05/2024 10:25

its rife in our area. our local gp calls it the 90 day cough. but its not just the coughing. dry throat, exhaustion, not sleeping well, variable sense of taste and just generally fed up with not being able to get a sentance out without coughing. however, it disappears almost like it came, overnight.

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 10:42

The strange thing is I haven’t had the cough, I had it slightly but that was short lived compared to the fatigue, ear ache, brain fog that I just can’t clear. Are you working with it?

LumiB · 30/05/2024 10:49

I had awful coughing fit yday resulting in me vomiting nothing but liquid saliva weird. Anyway it's calming down managing to get decent sleep now and I've been onto pop my vitamins been using a vitamin d spray. I thinknthats helping too. No other symptoms other than the cough. Even managed to go to gym yday for a short workout

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 13:35

That’s really good @LumiB . Do you mind me asking what vitamins do you take? Do you think vitamin d spray is better than the tablets?
Hooe everyone else is starting to feel a little better today.

I have vitamin d spray as I'm Asian so need to make sure I keep topped up. I take the wellwomen multi vitamins where it's multi vitamin plus seperate omegas

I think the spray us better only because I already take vitamin tablets.plus I'm starting on collagen tablets...too many tablets need a break. They say the spray absorbs faster 🤷‍♀️

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 18:42

Is it normal for a virus to last this long?!

I have finally tuned a corner I think! I even managed to do some life admin this afternoon. Now I wish I hadn't started taking the antibiotics this morning.

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 19:30

That’s brilliant @springhassprung20469 , will keep everything crossed for you that you continue to get better now. Do you mind me asking what’s worked for you ? Willing to try anything!

Honestly nothing, I tried everything. It's been 2 weeks and 4 days, I have taken 2 antibiotics so I doubt that's the reason for me feeling better but other than that just ride it out. I did wake up with night sweats again last night so I'm praying it doesn't happen again today. I still have the cough which I'm guessing will be here for a while.

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 19:43

I think I’m on 2 weeks 2 days, I’ve had sore throat, ear ache, head ache, body aches, weird fuzzy head hard to describe, horrible horrible fatigue and now a cough and tight chest seems to have started! I’m resting more than I’ve ever rested in my life including when I had covid the first time 3 years ago but I don’t seem to be able to shake this off!

I'm coming to the end of week 4! However, I do think that my class reinfected me. My classroom was a festering petri dish of germs.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 30/05/2024 21:15

BayandBlonde · 28/05/2024 18:08

Yep had it for two weeks, got better for about a month and now it's back.

Headaches
Fatigue
Bad stomach
Dizziness
Dry mouth
Lost voice

Utterly depressing Sad

I have all this and I tested positive for COVID.

pinkfondu · 31/05/2024 10:31

My brain is sooo fuzzy with it, even very difficult to work through, have had to explain a couples times this isn't the normal me

Cloud44 · 31/05/2024 14:17

I know what you mean about the fuzzy brain. How many everyone feeling today?

LizzieBennett73 · 31/05/2024 15:48

This cough is getting on my last nerve today. I'm so so tired from not sleeping... I honestly can't seem to breathe without coughing. Sigh.

sawadekah · 31/05/2024 17:44

I am so so so cautiously hoping I’ve turned a corner. I haven’t needed to sleep today - although I’ve done very little - but apart from feeling a bit tired now, and the backache which is still painful in waves, i feel a whole lot better. It’s been 17 days for me and I’ve missed 2 weeks of work (self employed - feel a bit sick about the financial hit)

the strangest part for me is the emotional side - it’s made me so tearful and anxious but I actually feel my sense of humour and resilience coming back today. I have felt at times like I would NEVER get better - a loss of all perspective and hope which has been so odd as I’m normally v chipper.

i hope others are feeling better, even if by degrees - @Cloud44 are you still coughing?

difficultspaghetti · 31/05/2024 19:39

Yep, I had an awful week of vomiting up pleghm and having watery diarrhea, headaches, achy joints and high fevers. Now I feel like I have a cold. Can't smell or taste anything.

And a horrid cough to boot!

Cloud44 · 01/06/2024 16:28

@sawadekah my cough is on and off, seems a bit worse in the mornings. For me it’s still the fatigue and just not feeling with it! With some body aches still.

OP posts:
Cloud44 · 02/06/2024 10:48

Is anyone else still struggling with the fatigue?

OP posts:
Cloud44 · 03/06/2024 14:56

OP posts:
Alessia79 · 04/06/2024 09:37

Same here!!
Been traveling for work quite a bit last week and I must have caught a virus. Can’t stop coughing since Friday and this morning I have gastro problems too.
Last time I caught a flu/virus was years and years ago, I have quite strong immune system but whatever is around these days must be something pretty strong.
juggling work and a child on my own when not well is so tough and demoralising at times!!

Johaanah · 04/06/2024 12:53

I’m heading into week four, thought I was getting better but over the weekend I was really ill, the cough is still hanging around and I’m still exhausted with a permanent headache. Actually can’t see an end to this.

ilovepixie · 04/06/2024 13:04

Yes day 10 here. Bad cough, headache, dizziness, upset stomach and the tiredness is the worst. I've no energy at all.
