A couple of weeks into it now and it’s really starting to get me down, has anyone got anything similar?

Yes, started as a cold, lost my voice (I'm a teacher), no energy. Now we are into half term I have added earache, dizzyness and an upset stomach. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

I've had exactly this. Thought I'd had a couple of virus' in a row.

Still have the cough and just getting over upset stomach

Copperoliverbear · 28/05/2024 22:32

Two of my cousins had it, it lasted for months, they'd feel better then get worse again.
I was lucky I only had it for a few weeks. X

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 28/05/2024 22:33

My mum is 3 weeks in and only starting to feel a bit better now - she has felt so poorly

Copperoliverbear · 28/05/2024 22:33

Does anyone else wonder if it's Covid mutating into other viruses.

pangolina · 28/05/2024 22:33

Headache, earache, lumpy throat, fatigue, nausea. Had it about a week so far. Not been off work yet but everyone today was telling me how pale I look!

ControlShiftDelete · 28/05/2024 22:43

Omg I lost my voice today, have stomach cramps which seems like it's going to turn into diarrhoea, headache, chills and back ache. Fml.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 28/05/2024 22:50

Vitamin d (with vitamin k added) in spray form, under the tongue each day was the first thing I was advised to take as someone with a diagnosis of chronic fatigue. Usually wouldn't take in the summer but there is no sun so I'm still taking it. It is anti inflammatory and is the sunshine vitamin so it may lift your mood. Otherwise, good sleep (before midnight) and lots of liquids. Epsom salt baths are soothing for tired limbs and a good source of magnesium which helps sleep. And like @DeanElderberry says, don't exercise but I would also add continue to move. Its called pacing in the CF world and its imperative to rest but also keep moving a little. I also found acupuncture really helpful. Nothing in itself is a cure for post viral syndrome but the little things really add up. I've never felt so ill when I received my diagnosis, I also thought I was mortally ill, but here I am 10 years later. Worrying about it will not help you recover.

I feel worse this morning than I did yesterday and I think today is around day 15 ☹️

Omg I managed 6hrs sleep without the cough waking me up and what a difference no fatigue at all!! Let's hope I'm broken the back of this cough and finally getting back to normal

Cloud44 · 29/05/2024 12:12

Has anyone got any tips on how to get better? How are you all balancing work? It’s so miserable!

springhassprung20469 · 29/05/2024 12:16

Me! It's been 2 weeks and 1 day and I really feel like I'm never going to feel normal again

Cloud44 · 29/05/2024 12:23

What are your symptoms at the moment @springhassprung20469 ?

OP posts:
ShortColdandGrey · 29/05/2024 12:33

I had this from October and 17 week later the doctor finally agreed to give me antibiotics. I felt like I was going to cough myself inside out and had no energy to do anything. It did take me about another 4-6 weeks after the antibiotics to start feeling normal again. I wish I had demanded antibiotics when I went to see them 8 weeks in and they told me it was a viral infection. I hope you feel better soon.

Right now I'm left with extreme tiredness and a constant cough but over the past 2 weeks I've had a fever, chills and night sweats. Aching body, sore throat, headache, a bad stomach a a really strange feeling like I'm not actually here (hard to explain). The doctor gave me a prescription of antibiotics yesterday which she said not to take unless I still feel unwell by tomorrow. I know I really need to rest but resting doesn't seem to be helping anyway.

Cloud44 · 29/05/2024 12:44

Did the doctors have any idea what it is @springhassprung20469 ? Have you had ear ache at all? I know what you mean about resting, it just doesn’t help! I don’t think I’m ever going to get well!

Yes and an earache! I've never had a virus like this. I had to take sick leave from work last week but already had this week book as annual leave as it's half term and I have a young child. I haven't been able to move all week.

Shutupyoutart · 29/05/2024 13:05

I'm on day 2 of taking antibiotics I thought I was feeling a little better so decided to get on with some housework, cleaned the living room and then the fatigue hit me like a tonne of bricks I've now gone back to bed for an hour cos I'm completely exhausted and started having another coughing fit while hoovering getting so frustrated with feeling like shite all the time :( sorry to hear your still feeling horrid op x

acquiescence · 29/05/2024 13:12

Yes- similar symptoms to lots listed above.
Get some new covid tests, older ones don’t work. May be too late for you to test. Mine is covid. My family have infected all friends and family we saw recently before we realised, they all tested positive within 2-3 days. It’s really contagious and has totally floored me. Others less so. I’m so tired and bored of it, the stomach symptoms have been annoying.

clarepetal · 29/05/2024 13:18

Think I have this, feel terrible. Am emetaphobe and really don't want to puke on it...

Cloud44 · 29/05/2024 13:36

For those of you who have had fever and ear ache any tips on how to ease them? It’s such a horrible virus , I’ve done a couple of covid tests which were negative.

I’ve had a better day today - still tired but not so that I needed more than a nap - but the lower back ache has come back and it’s excruciating. I am dreading how long this is going to go on for.

DeanElderberry · 29/05/2024 19:59

It's a time to listen to your body, if it is saying 'ouch! I want to lie down', then do that. Inasmuch as small children and other exigencies will let you. Back in the 80s the mystery thing a lot of us had, had an acute phase of ca 5 weeks followed by some months of depressingly slow improvement followed, eventually, by recovery.

Don't despair.

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 10:07

Another day of feeling the same 🙁. Has anyone else felt tight tight chested with it?

OP posts:
CallMeMabel · 30/05/2024 10:18

I'm on week three. Started with an ear ache, then headaches, streaming eyes and nose, then fatigue and now sore throat and tightness in my chest. And I sound like Edith from Still Game/Phyllis Pearce when I talk.
