A couple of weeks into it now and it’s really starting to get me down, has anyone got anything similar?

Shutupyoutart · 28/05/2024 18:16

yeah, I've had it for three weeks and counting on the fourth week now finally went to the docs yesterday and she prescribed me antibiotics. started of as a headache, fever and cough and has just lingered on and on for ages. had an upset stomach the other day too I thought it was unrelated til a few of ye mentioned gastro issues too. weirdest thing. it's getting me down too op as you can tell I'm not a great sick person lol. hope you all start to feel better soon!

zigzagzigzagz · 28/05/2024 18:19

I have a very mild version of this but I have a lot of fatigue for what is otherwise just a sore throat! It’s very weird. Sympathies with everyone.

littleteapot86 · 28/05/2024 18:20

I saw my GP today but felt like i was wasting her time tbh, there's not much she can do. I do have herpetic whitlow on one of my fingers too. The joys 😅

Cloud44 · 28/05/2024 18:21

How is everyone managing to work? I just feel so rubbish. I’m starting to think there’s something really wrong because no matter how much I rest I’m not improving.

pinkfondu · 28/05/2024 18:28

Omg I'm so tired with it, can't do the whole day without a nap

sawadekah · 28/05/2024 18:28

@Cloud44 i made myself so scared last week thinking I was mortally unwell but doctor was confident in that it is ‘just’ a virus. I feel slightly reassured by other experiences although it’s a shame others are feeling ill in the same way. Also I’m not working. I can’t.

Meadowfinch · 28/05/2024 18:30

My ds went down with a streaming head cold and a cough in mid April that lasted six weeks. He's only just cleared it.

I didn't get the cold symptoms but I had a headache and severe pain in the small of my back. my hips and thighs. It really hurt, I felt awful. I tried to run my normal parkrun and was 5 minutes slower than my normal time. The following week, I couldn't run it at all.

It's just easing now, a month later.

Sorry if you're feeling poorly OP, it really isn't nice.

Cloud44 · 28/05/2024 18:39

Im so worried I’m never going to get better! I know it sounds ridiculous but I have rested way more than normal when poorly and it’s making no difference.

Week 3 now.
wheezing, high temperature, coughing. Feel exhausted. Had ABs but think it might be viral. I have asthma, so not good.

Fatotter · 28/05/2024 18:59

Had a cough for a week, feeling tired and now starting with tummy ache and 💩. Not been flawed like this for years. Not been out of the house since Thursday.

Copious amounts of phlegm and sputum too, have to expel with every cough no matter how small a cough.

LizzieBennett73 · 28/05/2024 19:00

I spent all of last week feeling tired, run down and with a bad headache/scratchy throat. And very tearful which is most odd for me! Yesterday I started coughing and I feel horrendous today - all achy and tired. And have got a massive knot in the glands at the back of my neck. Did a Covid test but was negative. Think I can safely blame the grandkids for this one as I've had them a lot recently and all have had coughs/colds.

Floored not flawed!

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 28/05/2024 19:08

Yes! I've had this - all 'head' symptoms for me though. No cough but really painful sinusises and headache, sore throat - lost my voice for a day or so, and so, so tired. I'm pretty much better now after 3.5/4 weeks but I thought it would never go! Still got some snot and cattarrh (lovely!) but will fine in myself

VivaVivaa · 28/05/2024 19:08

Haven’t RTFT. We all have this and have had it for about 2-3 weeks. Initially chesty cough, then sore throat with no voice, then cold like symptoms and now mild fatigue with tummy upset. None of us have been outright poorly but equally none of us have been 100% in that time at all.

Anyone else?!

I got back from Visiting family in London ( public transport) and was meant to be going to Badminton horse trials with a friend.

Felt a bit iffy then developed a headache with SEVERE vomiting.

I’d not eaten much, so it was a lot of painful straining-
But the puking was relentless
It lasted for about 36 hrs

Even feeding poor dog set me off

Had to carry a bucket 🪣 around - it was horrible.

I assumed Norovirus- but aching joints and muscles?
STILL not got appetite back and need a belt to hold my trousers up !

Son’s GF had almost identical symptoms- Severe, protracted vomiting and aches- despite not having been in same house .

Could this be a new Covid ??

Vomiting seems common with it.

pudcat · 28/05/2024 19:14

I had it for 3 weeks and I thought it had gone . 2 days later it came back with a vengeance. No sleep, panic attacks as couldn't sleep. I am carer for husband so did online triage at drs and they sent antibiotics. Hubby has bullous emphasyma and he got it. They sent antibiotics and extra steroids for him. We are still very tired and he needs more help than he did before

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 28/05/2024 19:15

I did wonder with hindsight if mine was covid - it started with me waking up with a random sore throat that went off once I was up and had a drink. It seemed really mild at first so I was a couple of weeks in before I thought I'm really poorly and it's not going! Seemed pointless to test at that point but I am curious

justasmalltownmum · 28/05/2024 19:17

Yes me!

Swollen tonsils, cough, lost voice, cold and flu symptoms, fatigue, and now lingering cough.

Currently on week 4...

I had this 2 weeks ago,out of the blue awful headache, then projectile vomiting all night plus 💩for another day.I also had a terrible backache the day before the headache. It was exhausting. My DH now has a sore throat and lost his voice.I feel utterly defeated as I actually had covid mildly a month ago.It just never ends..

ChinaPuffin · 28/05/2024 16:05

Yes, started as a cold, lost my voice (I'm a teacher), no energy. Now we are into half term I have added earache, dizzyness and an upset stomach. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Dizziness and puking- yes.
If you find your head position makes it worse, it could be to do with displaced microscopic crystals in your inner ear.

There are online ways to relieve this - head position exercises-
I tried them and it worked really well to ease the terrible dizziness.

Cloud44 · 28/05/2024 19:20

I keep trying not to cry because I think it’ll make my recovery slower because it’ll tire me out even more?! But it’s broken me, I’m finding it hard to keep positive I think because I’m trying to do all the right things and it’s making no difference.

And I feel like such a wimp because I know so many people have it so much worse, I just can’t shake off feeling low about it!

That sounds remarkably similar.
Really nasty bug.

I sat on loo clutching a bucket 🪣 at one point 😂
I can laugh now.. but at the time it was scary and horrible ( I have emetophobia too)

I really hope any of you still suffering feel better soon.

Times like this it makes me glad DS is an adult now-
Looking after a young toddler or several children when one is Ill like this is really grim.

LumiB · 28/05/2024 19:29

I thought it was hayfever but the cough is chesty and it's missing me off now, constantly coughing and sometimes it'll give me a headache as I have a coughing fit.

I've put down the fatigue due to lack of sleep since I'm waking up once or even twice a night cos of sore throat and coughing so I'm clearly not getting enough sleep. Maybe it's more than that though cos it does come on real suddenly, a wave of tiredness can't keep eyes open no matter what. Ive self imposed a long distance driving incase it happens and I shut my eyes whilst driving ...scary

Depression does happen with some viruses-
Feeling emotional / tearful is quite common, I think?
