To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

There's absolutely I excuse for eating Goats. That's appalling 💔

Eh? Goat is eaten throughout the world. What’s wrong with goat? It’s very similar to lamb.
Mumsnet is a funny place. She’s not eating newborn humans.

Scrumbleton · 28/05/2024 15:10

Just ate mine - white bread with 3 fish fingers ketchup and mayo - yum - no butter and cooked in air fryer

shearwater2 · 28/05/2024 15:20

I don't really eat them very often but I do enjoy Pot noodles and Supernoodles. I just love eating noodles generally! But usually I have some nice rice or udon noodles in a ramen instead.

Fish finger sandwich - yep.

Chip butties definitely.

Bacon and egg butty with sriracha mayo. THE BEST condiment, bar none.

Scampi, chips, chip shop curry sauce and mushy peas.

Cheesy chips and gravy- so wrong but so right.

Sausage rolls. I would be 50% heavier if I worked in Greggs.

Crisps, dips and wine. If I lived alone I would have at least two dinners a week of crisps, dips and wine.

TheDogsMother · 28/05/2024 15:20

Fishfinger sandwich with mayo or tartare. No fancy ones, just bog standard Bird's Eye Cod Fishfingers between two buttered slices of cheap bread, mayo (or tartare) and black pepper. If you want to be extra gourmet about it then a serving of mushy peas on the side. Bliss !

Seedy bloomer cut into a doorstep. Remove a bit of the middle to make a small hole. Fry it in smoking hot oil with an egg in the middle.

So unhealthy but absolutely gorgeous.

I've never felt 'guilty' about eating it though. I probably have one every few months as my cholesterol is slightly raised.

Is the unhealthy in the room with us?

McDonalds sausage and egg McMuffin.
Fortunately only ever near enough to a McDonalds first thing in the morning about once a year but when I am it's an absolute moment of bliss.

Other than that it's dipping buttered white bread into a chicken and mushroom pot noodle.

White buttered breed and green pot noodle - YES. Only do it once or twice a year but never lets me down.

Cheese.

Sometimes cheese is my
Whole meal.

And no is a whole sentence. Cheese is a whole meal. Amen sista. Preach it!! 😉😉

KarenOH · 28/05/2024 15:34

Microwave nachos. Bag of doritos. cheese. mayo. sweet chillu sauce.

Fried chicken with butter chicken sauce. Trust me.

Butter pasta.

Poutine.

Green pot noodle and buttered bread.

Spray cream on chocolate digestives

VimtoVimto · 28/05/2024 15:35

Biscoff spread straight from the jar.

I also find that many things I crave don’t taste as good as I remember.

I really fancied some Galaxy Minstrals recently but thought they were tasteless

I love McDonald's cheeseburgers.

Are they unhealthy? Yes. Are they plasticky? Absolutely. Do they look remotely like food? Of course not.

But that serotonin release when you get a mouthful with a gherkin in it! It's second to none.

100% beef with a bread roll? Why is that not food? The only plastic bit is the cheese tbh. At 300 cals it's less than a pre made sandwich, so apart from lack of fibre it's not that bad!

Around 75% of the planet eats goat.

Heinz canned macaroni cheese. I think it's a 1970s childhood thing, it is so bad but I love it so much.

As for buttered Hobnobs - give me a buttered Rich Tea and I am your friend for life 😀

I used to like buttered gingersnaps when I was a child, you've just reminded me.
Leftover Haribos (well, they aren't leftover, I grab them before the DCs), and Refresher chews.
Crusty white bread with loads of butter. Maybe a bit of Marmite to get my vitamins in.

UghFletcher · 28/05/2024 16:05

A fish finger sandwich - normal white bread
Or
A corned beef sandwich but made with a proper crusty loaf that you cut yourself and loads of butter

KetoViking · 28/05/2024 16:12

Fish finger sandwich in buttered cheap white bread with plastic cheese slices and ketchup
Beef pot noodle sandwiched between buttered bread
Cheese and salt and vinegar sandwiches
Boursin on digestives
Dark chocolate digestives with squirty cream
Chicago town microwave pizza dipped in loads of ketchup

I was keto for ages but before then this was all my favourite guilty pleasures

Now I'm pregnant and keto went far out the window and all of this is back on the menu again 🥰

NeonSky · 28/05/2024 16:17

Plain digestive biscuits with lots of butter, then a slab of cheddar 🤪

BlackCatsandBlueMoons · 28/05/2024 16:19

Pork scratchings

Chicken flavour super noodles or the really cheap supermarket own brand versions

Crisp sandwich; has to be ready salted crisps and cheap white bread

Toffifee (sp?)
They just brought out a coconut flavoured one. I can easily eat a whole pack in minutes. 🤤
My dad used to buy me them in the 80s so it's kind of nostalgic.
That and the fact I'm an uncontrollable fiend?!

A coconut one ! Oh i have to find them, where did you buy them ?

Why is eating goat any different to eat sheep or cows ? Goat and plantain curry is gorgeous.

Tisforptarmigan · 28/05/2024 16:40

Spam.

99point6 · 28/05/2024 16:51

Two hobnobs sandwiched with plastic cheese.
Naan bread and cheese in the toastie machine.
Instant gravy and rice.
Salad dressing on toast (preferably honey and mustard. Sainsbury's used to do an amazing one).

buffyslayer · 28/05/2024 16:54

From the chip shop
Battered sausage, chips, curry sauce, scraps and a buttered barm
Drowned in salt and vinegar

80skid · 28/05/2024 17:03

I've not had this for years, but a toasted sandwich made in a proper press, outside of the bread buttered and a sliced Mars bar as the filling. Careful not to lose too much skin due to the burns....

80skid · 28/05/2024 17:05

Or for the savoury filth, with a tin of corned beef in chunks or a tin of tuna, add grated cheese, microwave until cheese melted and instant comfort food

PrincessHoneysuckle · 28/05/2024 17:07

McDonald's.

Quarter pounder with cheese meal or double cheeseburger meal.im low carbing atm so it can't be done but I absolutely love it.
