If you post holiday photos to social media ...

How many are acceptable?

A few per day of the holiday

A single post of a certain number per weekend or week

If you don't share your holiday snaps, why not?

I prefer to see my friends and family holidays snaps of where they have been and what they have done one as a matter of interest and two in case it's somewhere I'd also like to go.

I prefer to see all the snaps in one post with about 10-15 for a weekend and 15-25 for a week.

I don’t mind seeing holiday photo at all. But I do find it annoying when I see the same photo from 3 angles. Plus I’m not a fan of food photos. 🤢

BlueYazoo · 27/05/2024 19:02

Insurance companies can only see what’s public however claims handlers/assessors can ask questions to ascertain whether you’ve made this publicly accessible information and if you’ve posted on social media that you’re away then lie or remove posts retrospectively this would be fraud and could result in your claim being repudiated. Why risk it?

Lovemusic82 · 27/05/2024 19:06

I like to post a few photos at the end of each day, f people don’t want to look at them then they don’t have too, I have family (including my mum) who likes to see what we are up too.

greengreyblue · 27/05/2024 19:08

Do you not have a family WhatsApp?

Mostlycarbon · 27/05/2024 19:14

It takes me about 20mins in bed at night to go through the pics, delete the rubbish and do any editing I fancy then post. Not sure how that suggests I’m not enjoying myself…

Each to their own.

treacle3112 · 27/05/2024 19:54

I post when I’m back, do a big dump of all photos I think are ok. I don’t do it when I’m actually on holiday because if my house got broken into while I was away then the chances of insurance paying out is extremely low - I’ve advertised that my house isn’t occupied

shearwater2 · 27/05/2024 19:56

I usually just post a few in one go. The exception was a couple of years ago when we were on a tour so in a different place each day, so I posted a couple every day.

Dweetfidilove · 27/05/2024 20:00

I don’t post anything, but I love looking at others’.

Daily posts, I ignore. I love flicking through a photo dump though, when they post a couple pictures of where they’ve been and what they’ve been up to.

thea1145 · 27/05/2024 20:02

I know someone who posts 60/80+ photos, mostly selfies and pics of their kids. A few pics of the pool etc but nothing of the local area, country side etc, my first thought is always "look at us!" But I try not to feel like that. It's weird because I'm not jealous of their all-Inclusive in Turkey or whatever, but there's something about the number of photo that makes me think it's a bit boastful, IYSWIM!?

Mummadeze · 27/05/2024 21:25

Just been on my dream holiday to celebrate my 50th. Posted about 8-10 per day. Really hope it wasn’t making me look like a show off but I like having the memories pop back up on Facebook every year.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/05/2024 21:52

I'm on holiday at the moment

Post anything from 1/5 a day maybe depending what we have done

If you don't like to see pics then Just scroll past

If people didn't post status or pics there would be no Facebook 😂

I put into an album so people can ignore - block - view - reply if they want

Also then mini blondes loves looking at the pics whether this years holiday or when she was 2 and 5yrs ago for example

I also print out my favs and put in album

Again dd loves looking at them

And after losing dh and my mum within 3yrs of each other - I prob take even more

Photos And pictures are forever precious memories

helpplease01 · 27/05/2024 22:34

Never post photos of family, but the dog has an account. I haven’t posted on it for over a year.
I think privacy will become a “trend” again. There is too much over sharing.

I never post pics whilst I’m away, because it’s just advertising to people that your home is empty.

Still don’t know why people do!

I think some folk are so busy trying to make people feel jealous that they’re away, they don’t think of the potential consequences of letting people know that you aren’t there.

WantToMakeWorldSilkySmooth · 28/05/2024 04:32

I am assuming thoae who talk about advertising home empty have open profiles? My friends and family are seriously not going to rob me. More people know irl I am going away than on my insta😂

This is exactly the kind of thing I'd love to see from my friends on social media.

DutchCowgirl · 28/05/2024 07:15

I use Polarsteps to make a “diary” with pictures each day. I only share it with my best friends and family. Not sure it counts as social media.

Pin0cchio · 28/05/2024 07:19

Depends where ive gone.

Interesting location line with heritage sights/beautiful scenery - petra, niagara falls, Norwegian fjords, barcelona

  • one album on return, maybe 10 photos

All inclusive somewhere hot and sunny... 1 photo at most, no one wants to see your brag post from an ikos resort etc

Loads of pics of you/your kids - share with family via WhatsApp.

Sallyingon · 28/05/2024 07:39

I have always posted my holiday pictures in albums on FB, about 70 per holiday. I look at them a lot so it's perfect that they are there for easy access. I enjoy looking at other people's pictures too. But I don't post much on Facebook anymore and i am otherwise quite private so I think it's coming to an end. I'll probably just make them private albums.

Travis1 · 28/05/2024 07:40

I normally do occasional photos whilst away or stories and then a photo dump into an album when home.

just now we’re doing a once in a lifetime road trip(for us) so I’m doing a roundup post every day so I can have it pop up on my fb memories for years to come. My friends do seem to be liking these though given comments I’ve received in reply.

mitogoshi · 28/05/2024 07:54

A few in total and make sure they are varied - nobody wants to see 8 sunsets or 6 cocktails (if you know me irl you know who I'm referring to!)

burnoutbabe · 28/05/2024 08:03

Bernadinetta · 26/05/2024 18:56

I like looking at people’s holiday photos 🤷‍♀️ If I don’t want to look, I just scroll past (the post will say +30 photos or whatever, not show all 30 straight off, so you can choose whether to click or not). It takes probably under a minute to scroll through an album, it’s interesting to look at what people have been up to, what the country/scenery looks like, see their kids having fun, what the food has been like.

Yes indeed.

If you do a photo dump of 60 photos -adding them all to holiday 2024 folder then it does one post showing 60 photos have been adding with a preview of 9.

I'd generally post a few posts a day with amusing stuff (like I do beck in uk) then a photo upload when home into a few albums combining mine and partners photos into one or a few albums.

The insurance part well loads of people would know I was away (ie work colleagues) any of whom could tell a burglar. Like in old days when you cancelled milk and papers. The "insurance cancelled" thing is just a myth -if that happened then it would happen thousands of times each year and would be right in huge print at top of your insurance documents.
It may have happened once in highly unusual circumstances, but it's not really a thing.

burnoutbabe · 28/05/2024 08:11

notacooldad · 26/05/2024 22:15

I'm thinking about the issue of homes being burgled when your on holiday if you post on SM.
I would think I am more likely to be burgled during my work hours as that is more predictable when I'm definitely away from home and when I'm likely to be back.

Indeed.

For years it was fairly obvious that most people around me in London went off to work every day and their houses were empty. Since lockdown not so much.

But insurance claims were not denied as people had gone to work and posted a picture of their latte.

FlambeJones · 28/05/2024 08:11

I don't mind holiday pictures that are interesting. I have a few Facebook friends who post the same pictures but in different locations, a picture of their drink, selfies with exactly the same expressions but slightly different background. They could be anywhere.

TaterTots68 · 28/05/2024 08:40

I tend to do a daily update. If people don't want to look, they can scroll past, it's my FB page after all

mondaytosunday · 28/05/2024 08:43

Say I'm away for a week, I might post three times? Rather than multiple photos I use an app so it's a collage of three or four images. No one really wants to look at a lot of pics.
