To ask if you can claim benefits in the uk by doing this?

Can you request to go part time and then claim as you’re now on a reduced income? Surely that makes no sense as people could choose to do that as and when they felt like it? I am from the uk but lived in Finland since I was 11… we are moving back again next year and I am currently a stay at home parent!

Can I move to Finland and claim benefits if I work part-time?

You can't move to Finland unless you have a workplace or spousal via because... WE LEFT THE EU.

@Kendodd why would OP suddenly need to leave the UK?

Because she might decide she doesn't like it here.

Why study if you are a carer with no prospect of employed work?

So carers are not allowed to study and enrich their lives other than caring?

Wow.

@qwertyqwertyqwertyqwerty I'd love to be paid to study but it appears I'm working to enable other people to do so.

Be my guest, come and look after my youngest who is classed as disabled then during all school holidays, weekends etc. See how you get on? Thought not.

A lot of misinformation and ignorance on this thread. As is usual when it comes to benefits threads.

Definitely agree there...

ThreeFeetTall · 26/05/2024 09:46

@Vettrianofan ah ok, are you on UC? I thought it was across all (except if there are disabilities in the family)

ThreeFeetTall · 26/05/2024 09:46

@Vettrianofan sorry you don't have to answer if you don't want to, I was just interested

Who says there is no possibility of paid work? I work full time and earn £65k but have a disabled child so receive disability living allowance for him. It’s sometimes difficult but we’ve basically arranged things with dh so we can both work

Crikeyalmighty · 26/05/2024 10:57

@Kendodd it's incredible isn't it the number of folks who think you can just up and leave and move anywhere- it is of course possible in 'certain countries' but there are plenty of hoops to jump through such as minimum income levels (in place before you go) can't work in the local workforce, need private health or you need sponsorship or to be able to buy property over x amount- so indeed for the rich - they still have far more options - with the average Joe needing a job locally- not so much

There are plenty of people who have homes and families in other countries, who claim benefit in the U.K simply travelling back and forth (which they are permitted to do so).

The entire system is a nonsense. They have carers who don’t even reside in the U.K for goodness sake. People think it’s not a problem, but this piss taking takes housing away from our population, from genuine homeless families, from young people, from the vulnerable.

Oh but it’s so goady to mention, so shhhh, shhh.
