Is anyone else still struggling with a virus 10 days later? Sore throat, ear ache, body aches, so tired. When will it go away?!

Have you been around anyone with whooping cough? It can start like that. If you develop a rapid cough I'd go straight to the GP.

Have you seen a Dr? Sounds like how my Glandular Fever started.

Nutsabouttopic · 25/05/2024 11:21

Yes I have it, day 11 now and still coughing. The exhaustion is beginning to lift

Mummyratbag · 25/05/2024 11:24

Son had an awful cough earlier this year, sped round the class like wildfire. All exhausted, still coughing weeks later, but we all assumed it was just a nasty virus. One child tested at doctors - tested positive for Whooping Cough.. there was no tell take whoop.

curtaintwitcher78 · 25/05/2024 11:25

Covid?

Mummyratbag · 25/05/2024 11:28

Reading back my post sounds a bit random - meant to say, don't assume that a cough has to be "whooping" to be Whooping Cough! I think there is far more about than is known.

My family have been wiped out by a virus fever, sore throat, hacking cough, nausea ....it put my 3 year on in hospital because the temperature wouldn't settle down and she was struggling to drink with her throat, she was 39.9 still after 5 days.
I'm only just stopping coughing now after almost 3 weeks. I've never known a cough like it, I've lost 7lbs in 2 weeks from feeling so ill.
Either way, everyone is keeping very quiet about it, but everywhere I go I'm hearing people coughing. Not sure if flu (which my daughter tested positive for) or covid....but its been just awful. My muscles still ache now...
Hope you feel better soon x

How did they test for whooping cough?

How did they test for whooping cough?

I think swab and bloods

Cluborange666 · 25/05/2024 14:40

Sounds like Covid. We all had really bad leg pain after our last Covid plus the usual exhaustion. The kids had bad coughs too though I didn’t.

Nsws2015 · 25/05/2024 14:59

My 4 year old son started over 2 weeks ago with a hacking cough that was making him choke and almost vomit, then came the temps of 39.8 and he just looked so ill. I took him to the drs in a panic over whooping cough and they were fab and did the nasal swab, that came back over a week later negative but the cough just kept getting worse, he wouldn't eat, wasn't drinking as much as normally would and couldn't sleep at night without coughing til he was sick. The dr gave him antibiotics on Wed and since then he's so much better, barely coughed last night, hasn't been sick since Thursday and is eating and drinking again (although he absolutely hates the antibiotics and it's like wrestling an octopus to get them in him).

Now I've caught it and I feel dreadful, was awake at 3am with my head feeling like it was going to explode, my body hurts and alternates from sweating to shivering, I'm so tired and my throat is scratchy sore. I've pretty much slept all morning and am still tired and yawning now. It's bloody horrible! I hope anyone else feeling like this feels better soon!

Cloud44 · 27/05/2024 17:55

Is anyone having possible covid without the cough? But feeling absolutely exhausted?

Me. I have no tests in, must order some to see.
I'm aching like mad, it seems to be moving around my body, it's currently my neck and legs. Plus sore skin. No cough yet but my chest is quite tight. I'm in bed with it which is rare for me, usually I'm a crack on kind of person.
My temp is going from hot to shivering.
I'm tired but can't sleep.
I hope everyone else feels better soon and that this goes away fast!

Cloud44 · 30/05/2024 16:34

Sorry to hear you are also feeling unwell @househelpneeded24 , hope it clears soon for you, when did you first start to have symptoms?
