to expect John Lewis to blardy well deliver my baby's mattress!

bought a mattress for my baby (due in May) back in JANUARY and so far 4 deliveries have been arranged, NONE of which have actually happened which equals 4 Saturday mornings I have stayed at home doing nothing waiting for them .

God knows why they can't do something so simple as deliver an item bought and paid for 4 months ago - no one on their customer service line seems to know what the problem is but I am starting to wonder how many more chances I should give them before cutting my losses and getting one somewhere else - but the issue is that we don't have a car and JL deliver for free, hence buying it from there in the first place

I've always thought that JL represented really high customer service but am TOTALLY unimpressed. Will they actually deliver on the 5th occasion? if not, what do I do? I just want my bl@@dy mattress!

Am now at the stage where no amount of refund would pacify me and what I really want is for them to have 4 delicious male strippers deliver it to me along with a bunch of flowers and a chocolate cake while singing about how sorry they are in four-part harmony. Do you think they would provide this for me if I call them and get all pregnant and hormonal about it??

ooh can i come and help you with your delivery if they do agree to sending the 4 singing hunks!

preggersagain · 05/04/2008 09:58

sorry- that didn't help at all did it good luck and hopefully it will arrive soon!

That's dreadful - like you, I would expect a very high standard of service from JL, they have such a good reputation... mind you, I do dimly recall many years ago a woman in work effing and cursing JL because the dining table and chairs she'd purchased in September for Christmas still hadn't been delivered by the 21st December!

I agree with milliec, you should wait til you've got them (naked hunks notwithstanding ) and then complain like stink.

I phoned JL in Aug to say everything on my nursery list had been purchased could they now deliver. No delvery despite many many calls.

When baby arrived end of Oct, and still no order, they announced that some of my items were now out of stock!!!!!!

I made them refund everyone who had made purchases and write them a grovelling letter.

I will never buy anything from JL online again.

Very annoyed with myself that I didn't insist they send me 4 hunks as compensation

Sorry to hear that novicemama - I had problems with JL online (about delivery of a baby mattress too!) just the other week. The courier company were worse than useless, and JL customer services clearly couldn't give a toss when I complained. I asked if they could arrange for me to pick up the mattress from the local store and was curtly told that john lewis online and john lewis stores were quite seperate.

On that basis, I cancelled my online order, rang the store and ordered it from them, they offered me the opportunity to either collect from one of two collection points in the city or arrange delivery.

I'll never order anything from JL online again (also had problems with wedding list delivery a couple of years back). However, I am a bit of a JL regular so I'll just stick to ordering via the store from now on. If they are run as seperate businesses then I'd rather give the store my hard earned pennies.

sussies · 05/04/2008 12:51

Novicemama, can you not ask them if they could provide your child with either a draw or cardboard box for your lo to sleep in, seeing as they will not provide the paid for mattress. WTF, are they playing at.

elportodelgato · 05/04/2008 18:34

Well even though JL customer services told me in no uncertain terms that they could not deliver as planned today, at 1pm a van turned up with my mattress! Good job I was at home and hadn't gone out eh? I'll probably get another one delivered in a few weeks time - f*cking incompetents! I am really REALLY glad to have it though. Now I just need to phone them to request that chocolate cake and the 4 strippers by way of an apology...

Sussies - I did point out to them on the phone yesterday that it was a good job I ordered it when I was 4 months rather than 8 months pg or my LO would have been sleeping in a drawer for some months by now! They don't care though - I'm sure they just think I am a mad hormonal nutter lady.

Coastalmum, your experience is terrible, I hope the letters they sent to people were suitably grovelling?

And I did not realise that JL online is separate from JL stores but this might explain why the whole experience has been so crappy. I will avoid them like the plague in future!

Glad you got your mattress finally! I'll definitely be sticking to JL stores in future. At least if you have a problem with them, you can actually go and speak to them face to face rather than dealing with some faceless customer service advisor over the phone/by email.

Good luck with getting your chocolate cake !

sussies · 06/04/2008 13:17

I am so glad you got your mattress, about bloody time imo! I was imagining babynovice all cuddled up in your bottom draw! (I like ! can you tell)
