Remember ... this is an enquiry. All these lawyers want to do is establish that there is evidence of criminal conduct. This evidence can then be used to support a case for prosecution.

Disappointing not to see people publically shamed, but this is not the aim.

That's what I make of it too (not that I know anything about the legal system). But inquiry sounds different aim to prosecution. I just hope they get all they need to plough ahead with that in the near future.

I can’t recall that damming email

Newly on here. Did anyone else notice yesterday when JB asked about a question in a meeting and she said she didn't remember that question being asked. JB then moved on to something else briefly but then asked her what her response to the question had been and she suddenly had word perfect memory of her answer (to a question she'd just denied remembering being asked. Duh?)

@DanielGault

Honestly, many people from middle management up are above caring. Like they just think they won't be caught, and/or no one will challenge them.

Many of these same people lack sense too, clearly

I was a middle manager for a short time 😂 there was a lot of arse covering (public funded org, appreciate it's not like that everywhere). The arse covering replaced common sense. It was not beneficial.

nauticant · 24/05/2024 11:15

Mr Stein now. I'm expecting something more laid back where the traps are more hidden away in the undergrowth of the questions.

I love the Welsh fella 😂

Quirkyme · 24/05/2024 11:17

@DanielGault

Yeah it's always in the public funded organisations. Absolutely littered with corruption and rot.

Quirkyme · 24/05/2024 11:17

Do you think she has biscuits and tea on her break? Lol

Talks to her engineer husband?

Yup!

"I spent hundreds of days meeting with staff, caring about being postmasters...."

"Bear with me, I'm Mother Theresa"

I'd say her engineer husband reprogrammed her tbh.

EggcornAcorn · 24/05/2024 11:18

Boak at the self-sainting.

Not the memory, obviously.

Not sure that this is true - look at the behaviour of the privatised water companies - polluting rivers and seas with no consequences to the Directors.

Quirkyme · 24/05/2024 11:19

@DanielGault

No doubt. Every break time. Makes sure she's free of "bugs"

Two things can be true at once.

In speaking about public funded organisations, does not mean the same doesn't happen in private.

We were talking about public funded organisations here.

He seems to only manage patches right now.

Lunde · 24/05/2024 11:21

She has decided to adopt a fake, kind vicar dealing with a difficult parishioner persona today.

nauticant · 24/05/2024 11:21

LOL at "Mr Henry cured himself of it" from the Chair about counsel interrupting Vennells.

Funnily enough Lunde in some ways she reminds me of Tony Blair at his most sanctimonious.

Imelda Staunton to play her in the film - she can base her performance on Dolores Umbridge.

He tends to do this to build the story before he delves deeper

meimei80 · 24/05/2024 11:32

I think this new guy is doing really well, weaving all the facts together. She is on much shakier ground.

grumpygrape · 24/05/2024 11:33

Bang, bang, bang. Stitched up like a kipper
