When I boarded, the bus driver saw that I had difficulty managing my mobility aid as he hadn't put out the ramp.
Before I was seated the driver pulled off and I was thrown awkwardly off my feet, banging my head on the bus side.
Several passengers called out to the driver to stop and helped me up onto the seat.
The driver made no attempt to see if I was okay. When the bus terminated, I asked the driver why he didn't wait until I was safely seated.
He said that he thought that I was seated. When I pointed out that he had a mirror as well as cameras to check, he said that the inside mirror was already misaligned when he took charge of the bus
In the UK, all bus drivers are legally required to ensure their vehicle is safe and roadworthy before starting their journey. This includes adjusting mirrors appropriately.
He not only drove without due care and attention but failed to ensure that the mirror was properly adjusted.
Although I wasn't seriously injured, I was angry and reported the incident to the bus company. I feel that this sort of driving is unacceptable.
