What kind of pain is it? Does it hurt when you lift your arm? Have you tried anything for the pain?
I'm not a medical person but I have tendinitis which is so painful, x rays were clear but a scan picked up tendon damage. For pain relief I use ice, anti inflammatories and cocodamol and just stop moving my arm.
Hope you get some relief soon!

Frozen shoulder?

Mossstitch · 23/05/2024 21:26

If the pain is travelling to your elbow then it's nerve pain. Not much help but something must be impinging on a nerve, I've had similar in the past which led to frozen shoulder from restricting the movements as it hurt. I'd say the same as above treat for inflammation, ice, ibruphren and rest it as much as possible but keep the whole joint mobile by exercises for frozen shoulder. Main one is using a wall and allow upper limb to climb up the wall using fingers. The wall takes some of the weight of the arm so that it doesn't hurt as much but it keeps your shoulder joint.mobile.

I had pain in my arm mainly elbow area but did go up to my shoulder. After many tests, mri, x rays and physios I had no improvement. I then saw a new physio who suggested it could be my neck and he did something - I can’t remember what but it was excruciating and I felt sick in the moment - but the relief was instant. Two years of suffering literally gone in a few seconds.

Thank you ladies I have been taking ibuprofen for the pain. It hurts when I lift it up. It's a dull ache and is really stressing me out

I've developed a pain in my shoulder in the past few months OP, I've had a grinding "click" in my shoulder for the last couple of years when I lie on that side. Then I fell on that arm and have been in pain ever since.

I saw my doctor who sent me for an xray which showed no damage, so GP said its probably osteoarthritis which I have everywhere anyway.

I'm now waiting on an appointment with a shoulder specialist, and in the meantime I'm using anti inflammatories along with ibuprofen. I try not to take them every day, just the days when the pain is particularly bad and radiates down my arm almost to my wrist. (Some days it's a dull pain that I can tolerate).

I think the specialist will probably give me a steroid injection to begin with, and see how I get on.

So have you considered that it could be arthritis? I'm about the same age as you and have developed arthritis in the past few years. I find heat, in the form of a hot water bottle, works well on my hands, knees, ankles and back.

@Piggiesarecute thank you for your reply
I have had a steroid injection which worked for about six weeks then the pain came back again. The X-ray showed no sign of arthritis hope you feel better soon
