Elderly relative having a breakdown / crisis, he had to move 3 days after watching his wife die (he'd been her carer for 30 years) and housing association are giving him two options:
- He removes a building he put on the side of the house that in previous years their surveyor and housing officer agreed to (they are now saying they would have told him he had to remove on leaving house but he doesn't recall being told this)
- He pays the bill for them to remove it
He's mentally and physically in pieces and also has no money to pay for this. I want to advise him to not remove the building and not pay the HA bill.
But I need to know what happens when you don't pay a housing association bill.
Do they actually take you to court? Would the court rule in the HA's favour?
Please note I'm only looking for info about whether they take you to court or not, I've had various other thoughts and suggestions already, but can't find any info online anywhere or any cases where HAs have taken previous tenants to court.
