To have had a total gutful of my hormones

I’m 51, menopause has triggered PMDD, I feel great for 2 weeks of the month on oestrogen only HRT and then for 2 weeks plummet. Have come off evorel sequi as can’t tolerate Nothisterone. Now on utrogestan vaginally and can’t tolerate that either as I am progesterone intolerant. Last chance saloon is a mirena but not too enthusiastic about that either.

Am OVER my hormones and the constant ups and downs. PMDD is awful and consultant said I am basically intolerant of my own progesterone now.

I’ve been having periods for 40 bloody years. OVER it!

I found the mirena helped my anger issues, but it did take a while to settle down.

@DustyLee123 did you get any other side effects?

Me too. Absolute lifesaver.

I had this. I tried every form of progesterone going, including the Mirena - which sent me absolutely loopy and made me bleed constantly for 6 months until I begged them to remove it. The progesterone patches left an angry red mark on my skin where the medication touched it. At one point I tried utrogestan vaginally, as the consultant suggested, and it felt like I was being burned from the inside out. 😨

I ended up having a hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (ovaries removed too) last year, which seems to have done the trick. But that is quite an extreme step to take-!
