Do these nappies look normal?

Bopeep99 · 22/05/2024 12:04

My 3 week old combination fed baby has a little bit of mucus in his nappies. HV said to keep an eye on it in case of CPMA. He doesn’t have any other symptoms and it doesn’t look like a lot of mucus but I’m constantly worried about it now.

AIBU to worry or do these look ok? First time mum so no idea what’s normal and what’s not!

Sorry for graphic poo pics and thank you in advance x

All fine, my daughter had the same.

skippy67 · 22/05/2024 12:06

Yes. Normal.

YABU for posting pictures of shitty nappies with no warning in title.

catlady7 · 22/05/2024 12:08

If no other symptoms I wouldn't worry. Just keep an eye.

My daughter has cmpa and soy allergy and maybe others.

Well what did the title of the thread lead you to expect?

The title is enough.

TakeTheMomentAndTasteIt · 22/05/2024 12:09

My combination fed baby had that too, give the HV another call if you're really worried but otherwise just monitor

Something about a new dress obviously 🤣

I expected to see a nappy with a wonky sticky strip. Along the lines of 'Is this ok to use?'. If a thread includes pictures of shit then I'd expect to see 'Gross pic warning' or similar in the title.

TipsyKoala · 22/05/2024 12:15

Looks normal to me

I’d expect it to look a little bit more seedier than that.

Seeds are normal in breastfed nappies or if see them in combination ones.

Fortunately for me....

Yes, looks grossly normal to me

Bopeep99 · 22/05/2024 18:19

Thank you so much everyone! The comments have reassured me. Is a little bit of mucus normal in some nappies?

Apologies @RobertaFirmino didn’t mean to offend! New to babies and Mumsnet! X

This is Mumsnet. Virtually every one of us will have seen a shitty nappy. I'm long past the stage of regarding shit or vomit as gross - have spent far too much time clearing up both.

Daisymae55 · 22/05/2024 18:25

i wouldn’t be worried. I’d keep an eye on the nappies and any other issues but based on those nappies I don’t think you should worry - dd had very similar

BookArt · 22/05/2024 19:28

Sorry to go against the grain here, but my daughter has lots of allergies. Her nappies started like this about the 3 weeks mark. She had bad nappy rash and baby acne... Or so we thought. She was combination fed. It could be absolutely fine, but I would. Continue to document and photograoh anything skin, spit up, nappies. Especially as non_IGE allergies can take longer to present symptoms and can just be dodgy nappies and nothing else. Not meaning to worry you, but if mucus is happening regularly then that is not normal. Fingers crossed it clears up and is nothing.

My daughter didn't either. She started having reflux symptoms. Tried gaviscon and omeprezole. Didn't help. Then tried dairy free formula. Different baby. Now cut all out diet and other things are cropping up.

Yeah gaviscon first then went to omeprazole too. We then went to just breastmilk as the formula was worse with the reflux. Then I cut out foods, then went through several perscribed formulas. She now has 13 food allergies plus penicillin and grass. She is now 2 and has a limited diet as we have to try everything new for three days to make sure it isn't an IGE or non-ige reaction.

I would highly recommend 'Allergy Support Group' on Facebook, they give great advice.

Bopeep99 · 22/05/2024 21:31

Thank you @BookArt I’ll keep an eye on it! He literally doesn’t have another symptoms and doesn’t appear to be in any discomfort which is why I’m unsure. No rashes anywhere or vomitting just a bit of mucus in the more explosive poos.
