Just bought my first item on Vinted and the seller has messaged me that they have sent the wrong item by mistake. They have offered to send me the correct item and said I can keep the current one. I am sure they are being genuine but just not sure what is the best thing to do about the current item which has been delivered to InPost locker and I have not collected yet. I don't want to collect and funds to be released like all is well when I have not got the item I ordered

The funds won’t be released if you collect the item. Vinted will offer you the choice of “everything is fine” or “there’s a problem” - click there’s a problem and you can report that there’s an issue but the seller is sorting it out. The funds won’t be released until you confirm it’s resolved.

Or just don’t collect the item and InPost will return it to the seller, then your order will be cancelled and you’ll be refunded the cost of the item but not the postage.

Ok thanks. I have no reason to believe the seller is not being genuine and have offered to send the incorrect item back - I don’t need it, only want the one I paid for. She has not replied to that yet. But I also know I need to be careful as I have lost out in the past from being too trusting

What is the seller asking you to do? Have they now sent the correct item?

I stupidly did this once. I mixed up parcels and sent the wrong one to a different buyer. It was through InPost and I realised what I’d done as I closed to locker… I apologised and explained what had happened. She was lovely and understanding (probably equally as daft as me as she said she’d done it before) I’d asked her to leave it in the InPost locker so it would return to me and said that I would post the correct item the same day via Royal Mail. She sent me her address and I did this and covered the postage through that way. We made sure we were squared up postage cost-wise.

Don't let this put you off Vinted - I’m sure this situation is rare!

I had an issue with a Vinted item I was selling - not this issue exactly but an item that was in a locker but was cancelled on the screen. I called the help line for “In Locker“ and they were really great at finding the item and sending it for me. ( because it wouldn’t have been on their system). I can really see how easy it would be to send the wrong item when you’re juggling a number of parcels and you’ve selected the “no print” option.

Thanks all. The seller has said they are posting the correct item to me and gave me the offer of keeping the incorrect one. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and not escalate anything until they’ve had the chance to post the right one. I am also very happy to return the other one - I really don’t need an extra item. Saying that, I have had my fingers burnt in the past so am trying to be careful whilst I give her the chance to correct it
