Please help me!

I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks ago and this is a very very wanted baby. I've gone away for work to NI for the next 4 days and
I've just checked in and realised I've started bleeding. I've had 6 miscarriages and this is exactly how the others started.

I've spoken to the night receptionist and he didn't understand what I was saying, he asked me
If I needed more towels as I said 'I need some
Sanitary towels' he looked so embarrassed when I explained that I really needed some period pads, he said he'd speak to housekeeping but I've gone back to the room and realised that he probably means in the morning.

I have nothing to stem the flow at all's I didn't bring any sanitary towels or tampons.

I've got 4 pairs of pants 2 towels and the dressing gown on the bed but what the fuck do I? Nowhere is open now.

Do I go down to reception and ask for more towels? I'm going to ruin the bed and I just want to go home, tomorrow is going to be spent trying to sort out the meetings I'm here for as I'm a senior member of my organisation and I know I'm having a miscarriage and I will need to go home to seek help for it.

Or do I just apologise in the morning for the state of the bed?

This is so fucking shit

Hi, I’m from Belfast. If you DM me I’ll call reception for you and explain exactly what you need.

I’m so sorry this is happening!

Absolute angel ♥️

They may be available in a vending machine in the toilets of the hotel bar/restaurant, hope you are OK and it's not what you think.

ToxicChristmas · 19/05/2024 23:25

Did you spot any other staff members at all OP? I'd be very tempted to go back down and ask again (someone else if possible). Are there any communal bathrooms with sanitary machines or thick paper towels?

Offleyhoo · 19/05/2024 23:27

I think get a taxi to the Royal Victoria Hospital. Hope you are OK.

Tel12 · 19/05/2024 23:27

Go to a and e. They can help you.

FusionChefGeoff · 19/05/2024 23:27

Could you phone reception and ask to speak to a female member of staff? Hopefully they would be more helpful, understanding and sympathetic. I'm so sorry.

Shoemadlady · 19/05/2024 23:27

I'm so so sorry you're going through this. Do the bar toilets have a machine in them?

Clearinguptheclutter · 19/05/2024 23:28

Is there a female member of staff you can ask for help?
or if there are public toilets near the bar/restaurant a good chance they may have vending machines

if you are in pain I’d go to a&e. I’m so sorry you find yourself in this awful situation.

Sorry you’re going through this. You say you’ve had 6 before but bleeding through towels and a dressing gown on to the bed sounds like too much and you might be better going to hospital. I know sometimes they are useless with miscarriages but that does sound like a lot of blood so best to be safe in case you haemorrhage

ZeroOne · 19/05/2024 23:30

@Uteris Also in Belfast, let me know if you didn’t connect with @Belfastmumof2 , I’m happy to help.

PP is right that the Royal isn’t far, so if you get sorted with pads you could go for a check up. I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this.

Please just go to the hospital.

Mmhmmn · 19/05/2024 23:34

You might need to explicitly tell the clueless guy if you haven’t already that you’re miscarrying and bleeding heavily and urgently need what you need. Tell him to get the manager to help if he can’t pull his head out of his arse. So sorry you’re going through this there.

You could phone 111 or whatever the number is in NI. Do tell them you’re bleeding heavily.

OP I live in Ni - wish I was nearer to help. The wait to be triaged at the Royal really wont be long. In NI you ring 111 just the same as the rest of the Uk.

i would ask for scissors and cut up a towel if you have to; Uber should work fine if you need it.

if you’re getting pads - do you have strong painkillers?

if you book a flight home tomorrow now, your nearest airport is Belfast City. Belfast International is 20/30 mins by taxi.

You should go to hospital now

Uteris · 19/05/2024 23:48

I went downstairs again and spoke to a bar man, explained what the issue was and that the reception man was useless. Bar man apologised a lot, then gave me 4 packs of period pads and 3 packs of tampons. Apparently reception man is new so I'm sorted now.

Thank you all so much for the virtual support. I will be going home tomorrow. I've emailed everyone and explained. I don't care what they think: they can speak to my colleague and ask any questions they have and they will sort it.

Thank you, I will be telling the hotel tomorrow about how lovely the bar man was

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry you are going through this!
Regards to pads, I got stuck in a situation once.. I had to use a pair of socks. They did work as a temporary measure. I just binned them afterwards. I laid one of the top of the other inside my knickers.
So I'd suggest that as it's a bit more sturdy than loo roll.
Do you not think you should go to hospital? I think all hospitals will see you in this situation, they will have an early pregnancy unit.
Xx

Capricornandproud · 19/05/2024 23:50

Sending best wishes op xx

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 19/05/2024 23:51

I'm so sorry OP. If the shop can't deliver I'd second finding a female employee to ask for help with finding pads.
Please do head to the hospital once you're sorted tho.
And sod work, this is an emergency in the truest sense.
