I would have said 25-35 OP.... for you

K0OLA1D · 17/05/2024 16:17

Yours looks younger than mine and I am 33. My face doesn't always look 33. People say I look younger than my younger brother, but I think my neck gives me away.

LordPercyPercy · 17/05/2024 16:28

@cardibach that's really not bad at all! Your neck is lovely.

Bignanna · 17/05/2024 16:29

It’s a shame there isn’t really any non surgical treatment that makes a significant difference. The OP might be a candidate for RF, as there’s only a little looseness, but after 60, it’s surgery I’m afraid!

Ta. I have good genes, wrinkling wise…

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 17/05/2024 16:47

This is mine at 55. It's pretty segmented now - still on the hunt for the elusive neck cream that will work miracles...

It’s when your neck looks like a vagina you have something to worry about!

OneFrenchEgg · 17/05/2024 11:56

Thank you op, I can tell you are struggling. Do take heart from the nice and accurate comments on here and ignore the ridiculous suggestions.
I met someone recently who looked amazing and said it was no alcohol, good sleep and water - she honestly looked half her age. She was adamant though that she worked at it.

I think your friend must have had “help”

It is a thin piece of skin pulling down from middle of my jaw towards neck, straight on, it looks like 3 lines if that makes sense. It appeared quickly. Can it be reversed? I don't know if weight makes a difference.

It’s your neck muscle. You could try exercises, thousands online, but you have to do them religiously!

zingally · 17/05/2024 16:54

Looks similar to mine... Late 30s, early 40s?

Anotherparkingthread · 17/05/2024 16:55

Hey op I'm 36 and after weight loss my neck looked similar. Maybe not quite as pronounced. Anyway I started taking collogen supplement and it went away!

You could try retinol as well.

aintnospringchicken · 17/05/2024 17:13

Here is my neck. I'm in my 60s.

I'm 70 and two RF treatments have made a big difference to my neck. It is still an old neck which is to be expected but it is a decent neck for 70.

bryceQ · 17/05/2024 17:38

Huh?! This is one of the craziest age threads I've ever seen. You have a very normal neck that is very smooth.

Loveablockheel · 17/05/2024 17:41

I think most older necks can look ok in a still photograph, it’s how it looks when you are talking and moving around, it comes into a life of its own then, well it does for me at any rate.

quizzys · 17/05/2024 17:48

You have some neck coming on here worrying about your gorgeous neck lol 😂

The problem about being hyper critical about little things on the body is that they really only get worse as we age. Therefore you will forever be looking in the mirror checking and checking and panicking about something you didn't see yesterday. I'm not criticising you, I'd say we all did it at one point or another.

However, I can reassure you that the day comes when you'll say fuck it, at least I'm alive and enjoying life unlike many of my peers. Because the reality is our skin just ages with lack of hormones etc. post meno.

I have to say I don't give a shit now. I had a serious illness a couple of years ago, was touch and go, lost a shit ton of weight due to it, and guess where the weight came off - my face and neck but I still have the bloody apron round my middle! However the alternative is not nice so I embrace it.

Ageing can be cruel so brace yourself! The day I accompanied a friend to buy a big ticket item (she is just a couple of years younger than me) was the day the music died for me. The assistant asked her what did her "Mum" think? That was me!! I was 62 and friend was 60.

HereILayStillAndBreathless · 17/05/2024 17:52

Difficult to say. I'm 36 and don't have that little saggy bit under my chin, so you might be... 40? 42? Something like that? It's a nice neck, nothing's wrong with it.

KnittedCardi · 17/05/2024 12:52

58...... Hate mine. It's annoying because my face is pretty smooth. Very few lines. Some of mine is genetic, some is face shape, the rest is sun damage, as I always had a really reactive neck and sun creams in the 70/80's were really rubbish for sensitive skin, so often didn't use them.

Sun creams in the 70s/80s were also harder to get and expensive. Plus no one knew how harmful the sun was. I have extremely fair skin and was constantly burnt as a child. We didn't use sun creams as they were too expensive and in the view of the time "not necessary" ...if you burnt you just let it heal and either tanned (or in my case just went white again), no harm done! I have tons of moles and just keep everything crossed that the constant burning doesn't translate into skin cancer.

PalomaJaneintheDales · 17/05/2024 19:45

27/28? I'm so jealous! It looks lovely and I would be showing it off!

Why do men not age much? I don't get it!!

Edited

Men age on their heads ;)

MaidenheadRevisited · 17/05/2024 20:21

@AROUNDagainCrazy just to get this out of the way, I think you have a very young looking neck - I would have said 30 at most.

In the gentlest way possible though, do you think this preoccupation with your neck could be a manifestation of your reaction to the stress you have been through?

Stressful and/or life-changing events like bereavement often mean a massive shift in our sense of security and control, and our appearance changing as we age can sometimes just augment that feeling.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you for your lovely message, I really appreciate it. My husband said the same thing. I have been comparing photos on my phone, of afew months ago before the bereavement, to now. It wasn't there then at all, and my weight wasn't much different at all.

My husband thinks I'm getting more obsessed with growing old after watching my very close relative die. I think it shocked me to the core. I'm 40 next year, and think gosh this will be me one day. There isn't anything peaceful about death, despite what they say. And here I am obsessing with my neck! I've ordered some retinol cream, spf 50 moisturiser, and have already started chin exercises!

Thank you to all for your lovely comments. I have read them all, and appreciate every single one, even the slightly blunt ones (I tend to believe those more unfortunately).

I have always been very hard on myself, and felt that it is not okay for me to not be okay etc.

I am my own worst critic, and have literally driven my husband insane! I think I am fixated on not what has happened, but the fact stress is the probable cause of the acceleration of aging. Its like 5 years within afew months. I feel angry at the loss of my amazing relative, and at death, so maybe it is all just bad timing! As dh has said life is short, just enjoy the ride!

Your neck looks normal. You could be 18 or 50.
