So my dp used to to odd jobs as a handyman as he's very good with his hands. He now works full-time so gave it all up but will very occasionally do some work for regular people. There is one couple in particular who whenever they want anything doing to thier house that insist on my dp doing it as they say they trust him and dont care if he does the work gradually on his weekends off etc. They are on quite friendly terms with him and treat him well giving him drinks and food whilst he's working. My dp does always give them an idea of what he wishes to charge and they always say no problem about the money. Whenever dp is at thier house the work always increases with other bits added on etc and dp has been working full-time and doing thier work which has tired him out at times.
They generally pay up at the end or sometimes dp has small amounts as he's going along.
Dp has probably spent a total of 20 days at thier place doing tiling plastering etc and now it's come to final amount to pay they are delaying and have ignored his phone calls sorry for rambling but how do you think this should be dealt with as its embarrassing to keep reminding somebody to pay and this couple although they do generally pay do have a tendency to be a slow payer they have also ignored the odd request for a small payment whilst work in progress.
I've told dp that he needs to maybe take a more professional stand with them rather than them been mates.

Less than minimum wage tbh

I can understand why CF is asking for your DH-he does a good job and charges less than minimum wage for it. I don’t see what is in it for your DH though? Does he enjoy working full time all week and then spending his weekends working for nothing!??

No but I guess it's still money but in any case I'm going to advise he doesn't do anymore work for them. Dp has rang them again today at 10am they didn't answer but sent a message saying they will call after 2 nothing yet.

Crikey! A cheap day rate around here is £300/day for a general builder/plaster/decorater.

They owe him about £6k really. To get billed for 1/5 of that and still not pay is really taking the mickey
