I dont care what she's done to upset them. I know her, we have a coffee at times. I would never have chosen her as a friend but I do sort of feel sorry for her.

However, her social life is bugger all to do with me, and the rough people she seems to gravitate towards are nothing to do with me.

Stop knocking my flipping door and giving me sinister little messages for her ffs...the cheek !

Lol when i read the thread title it reminded me of love actually when hugh grant is looking for martine mccutcheon!

Do you live in a flat? I've had that happen because people seem to think I 'share' with the other tenants or something. I mostly don't know their names let alone anything else.

LBA · 03/04/2008 20:25

No its a house, and they know darn well she doesn't live here. They just seem to think its ok to drag me into their petty little squabbles..like I haven't got better things to do than answer the door to strange women.

Hugh Grant would also get the door slammed in his face. (Colin Farrell a different matter however).

why don't they just go to her house instead?

CrackerOfNuts · 03/04/2008 21:49

That happens all the time here. Normally it is people wanting to flog nicked stuff to next door, and they look at me like how the hell can i not know where he is, they want to sell it and get their money.

They also asked other neighbour if they couold use her phone to ring him on his mobile and ask him where he was.

I don't think it's unreasonable for strangers to knock on your door and politely enquire about your neighbour. It is unreasonable if they persist when you want to end the conversation.

Police came to the door on Xmas Eve one year, looking for next door when her daughter was on drugs. Of course my first thought was that someone in my family had died, and I was really shaken up afterwards.

i used to live in a small block of flats. one summer evening, we had the windows open, then i heard a knock on the window and its the police standing out there. i bloody sh*t myself. turned out my neighbour was meant to be checking in with SS everyday with her dd, and no-one had seen her for 2 days. made dh laugh when the policeman said 'alright, its the old bill' as i peered out the window lol.

We used to have really odd neighbours who wouldn't ever open the door. I was woken up one morning towards the end of my Mat Leave by someone banging on the door. When I answered it they asked if next door were in because they'd reported a gas leak! How the F would I know if they were in?!

So no YANBU

lol! its not once in a while, its becoming more frequent to the point where i'll answer the door, silently cursing and say "oh hello she's not here"...with a towel on my head or something.
