People keep posting photos of dog shit that hasn’t been picked up by owner on the village Facebook page. I know it’s disgusting and extremely irritating but why the need for a photo? Have a rant and warn others if you want but I don’t want to see a photo of shit when I’m scrolling my phone.

Maybe write this post on your village facebook page then?!

XenoBitch · 13/05/2024 22:59

lol, yes, that is nuts. It is not like someone is going to comment with "omg, so sorry, I recognise my dog's massive turn out", and then go to the park and pick it up.

Testina · 13/05/2024 23:00

The posts are more impactful. A picture is worth a thousand words and all that.
That said, although it is more impactful - it’s not that big a deal for you surely? It’s a bit precious to be so bothered by seeing a poo!

Why are you telling the world of MN?

Wouldn't you achieve more if you posted on your local Facebook page where the shit pics are put up?

I am asking if it would be reasonable to ask them to stop. That’s the point of the thread.

I agree, it is disgusting and I don't want to see it either. I think people are just at the end of their tether and resorting to extreme measures, though. There is just so much dog shit everywhere, it's at the level where people are avoiding previously beloved beauty spots and public spaces because there's just so much of it. It's miserable and a public health hazard, but no dog owner ever admits to leaving it and there's no real penalty for it, so selfishness prevails.

FaeryRing · 13/05/2024 23:05

No more disgusting than the graphic photos of cervical mucus etc that people post on here with no warning 🤮

I'm asking Mumsnet if it's OK to ask Facebook...

Sorry, OP, but 😂

Kesio · 13/05/2024 23:06

I think that it's alright to post dog shit photos.

It's really a serious problem. I don't know how you make people stop leaving dog shit everywhere, but maybe the social media stuff might help.

qpid5tunt · 14/05/2024 15:52

OP, don't ever look at the website Ratemypoo.com🤮😂😂😂

Macbeff · 14/05/2024 15:57

I once deleted a Facebook friend because she posted a photograph of the aftermath of her toddler accidentally doing a poo in the bath (i.e. an empty bath with poo in it). I mean, why does anyone need to see it?

The invention of phone cameras really has a lot to answer for.

Oh my goodness. I would have done the same. I work in care so no aversion to shit but there’s a time and a place. lol

A village I lived in had an anti-dog-poo 'activist' who did a pre-dawn patrol sniffing out dog poos, circling them in florescent paint and putting a tete a tete daffodil in each turd like a little flag.

A photo seems tame compared. Are you concerned that if you complain about the photos they'll think you're the non scooper?

I agree OP. Our local FB page does it too and it neighbour hood WhatsApp. I want to write 'stop sending me pictures of shit, you filthy git.'

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/05/2024 20:07

I find it quite useful and a darned sight cheaper than buying a F&B paint chart in the 'beige/taupe/burnt umber' range.
