To worry about bed bugs from library books

I know probably I am being silly but now I can't get the idea out of my head
DS loves reading and we live really close to the town library so we went and took some books out yesterday and now I'm freaking out about bed bugs
one of the books was quite gross but with kids I guess it makes sense it looks like just food stains or something but it started me thinking about how many houses these books have been in and how clean are they and what if they have bed bugs or bed bug eggs in them! They've already been in DS bed now as that's where he reads so too late I suppose.
i do have ocd so im trying to be rationale about it but im not sure what's a normal amount to worry about library books being dirty

Please get help with your issues, the chances are negligible.

As long as your son is not licking the books. I would be more worried about book worms lol

If the book had bugs you would see them. Bed bugs are not miniscule.
If you are really worried you can put them in the freezer to kill anything off but I think that would be pretty OTT.

A normal amount to worry about dirty library books would be not at all. Definitely don't start freezing them, that would be weird and completely unnecessary.

I've never heard of anyone getting bed bugs from the library in real life.. probably shouldn't have looked it up on Reddit that never ends well
I saw a bed bug last year in a hotel and I've been so freaked out by them since then, but trying to rationalise it as before I was aware of them I wouldn't have thought twice about library books being an issue or anything

If bed bugs spread that easily then schools, hotels and hospitals would be crawling with them, and they are not. This is irrational, but it’s because the press have been really irresponsible with the reporting of bed bugs in recent times.
