I hate bad manners too. Like when you open the door for someone and they don't even acknowledge you.

Thank you for your post, Chequers!

Don't bother offering him anything else. I can tell he's an arse.

hifi · 03/04/2008 15:03

be the same with him, dont say thanks.

binkleandflip · 03/04/2008 15:05

can you not just shut him in the garage until he asks nicely to come out the ignorant arsehole

Do what I do when kids or adults don't say please

say "what's the magic word then" in a high pitched voice. Works for me.

I'm with nametaken and would have gone 'thank you' in a meaningful intonation thus embarrassing him (and me in the process) into showing some manners

nametaken · 03/04/2008 15:25

theBOD - yes I do say it to adults - what do you do - allow them to have what they rudely demanded and then feel like a doormat?

theBOD · 03/04/2008 15:36

hen i used to work in the local shop during my college days i used to give it the over-the-top loud "YOU'RE WELCOME" if a cutomer was particularly rude. in my day to day life probably slightly differently as it doesn't happen that often.probably wouldn't say anything just make a mental note that the person is a prick but not let them affect my mood as they're not worth it.
although the other day i offered my seat to a woman on the bus and she acted as though i'd suggested going back to the 50's,chaining her to the kitchen and taking away womens right to vote.i reacted badly to that.
