How are you enjoying the sun today?

I dragged myself out of bed at 10, hung the washing out and then cleaned the bathroom for an hour. It's still not perfect and I cannot motivate myself to mop the floor. I've got loads of other cleaning and house stuff to do and I just cannot be bothered. What's everyone doing today to get out and about in the beautiful weather?

DH and I have had a bbq lunch, set up the paddling pool for the dog and are having a few ice cold ciders in the garden
Any hotter than this and I’m useless so making the most of the spring sunshine
In the shade because I could burn in the light of the moon if I stood still long enough 😅

ReadySetSit · 11/05/2024 16:29

Met my friend for coffee and a walk in on of the big London parks. Went early before it got too busy. Then ambled through central London, avoiding the shopping streets as far as possible and stopping off for light lunch.

It was lovely. I love London in the sunshine. Everyone seems so happy for once.

Going out for dinner tonight and to the cinema, so less summery! But I’m in a good and sociable mood because of the weather, so might as well make the most of it.

PickupaPension · 11/05/2024 16:30

Walked through the park with DH had brunch it’s about 45 minutes, bumped in to a friend so had a lemonade in a beer garden. Back through the park and now laying on garden sofa. Have headphones on listening to music. Flicking between MN and reading poetry. No small children , adult DS has gone out this afternoon. Friends round later for Eurovision, will all eat in the garden with our European fuddle then watch it on tv with various European beers of the world.

mrsbyers · 11/05/2024 16:32

Few hours round at the allotment but struggled in the heat so didn’t achieve as much as I’d hoped , then trip to our favourite cake shop and over to visit Mam for a bit. Home now and chilling out (literally) before a shower and an hour in the garden and then a film and maybe a boozy drink later

doneandone · 11/05/2024 16:34

Was up early and out digging in the garden, did some planting and weeding, also did 4 loads of washing. Now just about to start watching season 2 of Ray Donovan and feeling like I didn't put on enough sun cream today 😬

heartsinvisiblefury · 11/05/2024 16:34

Crochet and coffee in the garden
Washing out
Dogs sunbathing
Wine in fridge

I think I'm one of the most heat intolerant people on the planet and can't stand anything above 16 C. I'm miserable, grumpy, headachy, anxious, fuzzy headed, sweating, red in the face and can't do anything. I like a bit of sunshine, but not the heat.

Well here's your twin. I seriously cannot cope with the heat. Its 21° here and I'm a sweaty, stressy, nauseous, puffy faced mess. Going to have a lukewarm bath soon. Possibly with an ice cold glass of wine. I'm currently hiding away from the evil sun and pollen. Bloody hate summer. Which I have been told before makes me a miserable bitch. I'm not, I just much prefer a nice overcast rainy day, especially if it's good and windy.

transformandriseup · 11/05/2024 16:43

It's only 18 here with a nice breeze but it's absolutely lovely. Have avoided the beeches today and busy areas today and now just chilling in the garden.

Solidlump · 11/05/2024 16:54

JamSandle · 11/05/2024 15:39

I'm a bit of a wet blanket too. Despite the beautiful weather I'm feeling quite sad and not sure why. Off on holiday tomorrow so will pack later.

Hope you feel better tomorrow and enjoy your holiday.

Thank you 💖

Started with an early dog walk and an hour at the allotment before it was too hot. Had a client over but only half hour, then did some gardening, miss coffee and croissants in the garden.
Pootled into towns spent vast sums on 2nd hand books and french style lunch matter and sat back in the garden to eat and read..
Now having rising panic that I should not have done any of the above as we have visitors tomorrow, there's no food for them and the house is a mess..oh and I should have done loads of washing.
But do you know what?! I'm on strike today! And it's been lovely!

Beeches- what’s the problem, don’t you like trees? 😆

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 11/05/2024 17:41

At the moment I’m in the garden with a cup of tea!

Rumplemunchkin · 11/05/2024 17:51

We went swimming with the dogs this morning, home for a late lunch, planted up some hanging baskets this afternoon then sat in the garden and read. DH is making us a grazing board for watching Eurovision later and then hopefully we’ll watch another amazing display of the borealis like last night.

Spottedshell · 11/05/2024 17:59

We've been out today, doing necessary shizz. Managed a cold cider in one beer garden and a chilled fizz in another though ☺️

Now home, I'm sitting under my wisteria (who has her full Bridgerton goin' ON) whilst DH preps the pizza oven.

Startingagainandagain · 11/05/2024 18:00

I live by the sea so I had a nice walk on the seafront, sat on the beach to read a newspaper and have some lunch, then put my feet in the water (still a bit too cold to swim for my taste though).

Then checked out the Saturday Market and a few charity shops.

Went home and worked on the garden and put clothing to dry outside.

Seaside towns are such a joy when the sun is shining :).

HelenHywater · 11/05/2024 18:01

I drank G&Ts in the sun and going to a birthday party in little while. Just love the sun so much.

SlashBeef · 11/05/2024 18:04

I'm already moaning about it 😁

eatdrinkandbemerry · 11/05/2024 18:13

Woke early and stripped all the beds.
Hung out all bedding and made a full English breakfast.
Then enjoyed a few hours clothes and food shopping with the kids.
When partner got home from work we had a bbq and sat in the sun for a while.
I've just remade all the beds and now I'm enjoying a soak in the bath while partner has taken the kids to the park.
He's going out for a few drinks with his friend so I'm going to get the kids to bed early ( they are worn out luckily) and I'm going to find a good film to watch.
My kind of perfect day but probably boring to others 🤣

Famfirst · 11/05/2024 18:29

I'm quite happily ensconced inside.

I have no idea why people want to sit outside in their garden, at the beach, park or whatever when they can be inside their house, it genuinely makes zero sense to me.

ItsTapasTime · 11/05/2024 18:29

I’ve had a productive day. Washed, dried and de-bobbled my cashmere and/or wool jumpers and scarves. They’re now ready to be stored away. Washed the bedding. Prepared and marinated the meat for tonight’s bbq.
Now in the garden, looking at Mumsnet and drinking a large glass of vino.
Eurovision later.
A rather lovely day.

I'm a summer-hater. I'm in my house, all windows closed, with the air conditioning set to 19 throughout.

Even so, I can hear several neighbours "enjoying the sun". If their "enjoying" noises can be heard in my detached, double-glazed, air-conditioned house, they are too fucking loud.

(Yes, I'm an absolutely miserable scrote!)

A woman after my own heart. I'm with you 100% 😄

mondaytosunday · 11/05/2024 18:36

We are dinner outside last night (daughter's birthday) only coming in about 9.30. Today just had all the windows and doors open, son took dogs to park early so wouldn't get too hot and we went to different park an hour ago - so nice to see so many families, dog walkers, friends enjoying it all. We'll eat outside tonight too!

Blingismything · 11/05/2024 18:42

Went for a swim at an outdoor pool, did laundry, now having a Pimms in the garden, a blackbird is singing beautifully.

Claysta · 11/05/2024 18:49

DH and DS went karting at 7, I took DD trampolining and then to a friends for a sleep over. Went for a lovely walk with a friend which ended back at my house for a few wines in the sun. My tortoise (Turbo) is loving this weather - he’s been charging around !.. bbq and Eurovision later !
